Quote jools="jools"Only 43 more to go then?????'"
Quite, I'm sure that with better pitches, lighter boots and ball, no corner flag rule and 40/20s (sigh) he would have quite literally got a ton of tries. to get that many way back when should probably go down as one of the greatest individual seasons scoring feats in ANY sport, it's absolutely phenomenal.
As for the greatest RL try scorer, one of Brian Bevan's career regrets was not beating Rosenfeld's record despite scoring 796 of the buggers falling 8 short in all matches in 52-53.
Here's some footage of a 40 year Bevan showing a sprightly Clive Sullivan a clean pair of heels in a 7 a side comp in 1964

As for Denny's try scoring, excellent record but St.John Ellis has the Cas try scoring record with 40 in the 90s though that was probably from more matches.

Singe scored 40 from 41 games including a hat trick against the touring Kiwi side. Denny is on 39 from 28 games.

I know SJE had played more games, as I said, he holds the record at that point in time, the appearancs don't really mean much in my eyes for one season comparisons, how much ball a player gets, how a team plays etc all changes from one season to the next. Or are you basically saying Solamona is a better scoring winger by putting up theappearances as you've done, if so why not just say.

| Yes - that is what I am saying. For the hard of thinking:-
Solomona's strike rate is 1.39
St John Ellis strike rate was 0.97

Good for you, but he isn't the record holder for the season at Cas is he, for the hard of thinking and all that!

| Saw a post last night on Total RL forum that Cas have been offered 300k for Denny from Sale, hope he stays in RL too young to retire!

It sounds like there could be a bit of truth in this latest rumour. I hope he stays at Tigers but if that type of money is offered from RU I cannot see us turning it down. Wingers don't fetch anything near that amount and knowing Cas - they will snap their hands off.

Maybe so for that sort of cash, saw other posts saying Carney has been around a lot and him and Massey were seen joking together. Maybe something in that if Salford were to go down? Sure Powell would do like he did with Chase and ask the players opinions first

| Yes - sounds feasible. I'd be a bit greedy if I said I would like to see them both at Tigers. One door closes and another one opens.

| 300k is a huge amount of cash for a winger and it would be difficult to resist.
Although Solomona has been sensational for Cas, many of his opportunities come from the service that he's had form Gale and Dorn and has as much to do with Castleford's attacking shape and Solomona himself.
Mind you, I'd be happy to see the back of him, he's scored 5 tries against us this season alone so good riddance !
Seriously though, the guy has pace to burn and certainly knows where the try line is but, 300k !!

| £300k is silly money, I'd take that in a heartbeat.
