| Shocking crowd for a CC semi, don't wrap it up or find excuses, it's embarrassing.
For sure London didn't bring many fans but for all of the "loyal" Wigan fans that will no doubt make the effort to go to Wembley, it's just embarrassing.
8 miles, sun shining, a place at Wembley up for grabs, it's easy to see why you wouldn't support your team

| Quote Cronus="Cronus"As I've just said on the other thread: let's say the semi had been against Saints at the Halliwell Jones. Wigan take 6,000 and Saints take 6,000 and suddenly we're all fairly happy there's a 12,000 crowd on in a CC semi-final. 12-13,000 is fairly average for a CC semi.
And that's a conservative hypothetical example. When given a higher quality of opposition and the prospect of a closer game, more would probably choose to go. London were never going to win today, everyone knew that and it showed.
Get a grip. When one side brings next to no-one, the attendance will be poor.
But don't let that get in the way of both those brain cells enjoying a rant.'"
This. 6,000 is about the average following for one team to a semi final.

Makes me laugh all this. Whats it matter to you or your club, you'll probably never, ever play at wembley. How many would you take to a semi? Baring in mind it was a dead heat and £26 in the seats.

He didn't have a great first game though. Sent off for tripping.

| I'm pretty sure it's not Wigan, London or Huddersfield fans who are to blame for poor attendances, lack of interest and inconsequential nature of the Challenge Cup these days. I am pretty sure it is the fault of Super League, summer rugby and the bull culture that goes with it.

When did the rants turn so obviously against the switch to summer rugby?

| the two games are completely non-comparable.
Wigan-London as a CC semi has a problem of one side obviously going on to win (Wigan), that side being local, the almost-certainly-losing opposition being several hundred miles away, and the game being on TV. Result: The local fans have a choice of spending lots of money to see a walkover they could see for free, the far away fans have the choice of paying several hundred quid to watch a hammering they could watch for free.
Put Fax or Fev or Leigh in that QF and you get a crowd, because the game's local and a non-regular opportunity to play one of the top sides in SL, the TV and likely result are less important.
Now compare and contrast with Huddersfield. A Team at the top of Super League, playing some of the most attractive rugby seen recently in SL, the only team in a town of 150,000 people and a wider Borough of 400,000. Yet that team can't get 10,000 supporters to turn up week in week out, despite hugely more success and investment than they've had in previous years.
The worry with Huddersfield's attendances is whether the good people of Fartown will turn up & support their team. Ken Davy is losing money hand over fist keeping that team together, and unless people turn up to watch he will eventually cut ties. At which point the question becomes where Giants should get places in the SL hierarchy. If they've had every opportunity to become a truly big club and the fans have turned it down, why should we care about keeping them in SL over the likes of Wakefield or Hull KR, who get the same number of fans with far less success?

| Quote wigan_rlfc="wigan_rlfc"Would have probably been better attended at Warrington or St. Helens. The journey from Wigan to Leigh and back is awful. No train service. The road between to two towns is awful and for some reason seems to constantly have roadworks on it.'"
What an utterly pathetic excuse, shame on you.

LOL, criticizing Wigan fans, the group, along with Leeds, who've kept the sport in existence at all.
(And last time I looked Leeds was a bit bigger than Wigan)
If you want to critisize Wigan fans, start by telling us which massively supported club you follow home and away without fail.

I'm not sure. I don't think he knows either. But just keeps repeating it over and over regardless. Which is very strange considering the god awful state RL was in prior to SL.

10,621. So basically we took more to a foregone conclusion than Wire and Hull managed to take for one of the best semis in years.
