Same here - even his clothes annoy me; where exactly does one buy an irridescent skinny tie and a jacket with lapels made of completely different fabric to the rest of the garment. He looked utterly bizzare. |

Martin Kelner on the margin meterThe Margin Meter takes statistics from 700 previous rugby league games – "fed into a computer", of course – and delivers its verdict at various points in the televised game, on which team will win, and by how many points. Would this, I asked myself, not be counter-productive? Richly entertaining though the sport is, why watch it live if the Margin Meter has already told you what is going to happen?
The good news for Sky's viewing figures is that the Margin Meter is consistently and hilariously wrong. Widnes by four points, it told us. Opponents Wakefield won by 18.
When Castleford, meanwhile, went eight points ahead against Salford, it predicted a seven‑point victory, which it then amended to six after a Salford attack. Castleford won by 14. As far as the bookies are concerned, the Margin Meter may be the greatest boon to in-play betting profits since I discovered I could bet on my iPhone.'"

Hardly the same.
For me, even if the margin meter became a perfect science over the course of a season, it's ultimate purpose seems to be to spoil the game as a spectacle; given that the TV audience is contingent on the game being exciting, competitive and unpredictable, then that doesn't seem very sensible.
They could do some interesting things with stat's and modelling - this however, is what my son would call an 'epic fail.' |

What is being being said is that there is an algorithm to predict the result of a game ?
What complete and utter tosh if so Betfred should be sweating ( other bookies are available )
Onto what Bren2k says "They could do some interesting things with stat's and modelling", the NFL is a good example of this and has some very good data on all players ie
Metres gained per drive on average
Total metres gained by player this game / this season
Tackles made on ave per game etc etc etc
this would bring more to the game than the cheap gadget they have chosen

It's ludicrous, no machine can predict an intercept, bounce of a rugby ball, knock ons etc. An interesting idea, but due to the nature of sport it will never work.
