Crusaders cant even beat a side like Harlequins so how are they going to manage playing 3 of the better teams at the same time on a Friday night? |

I don't mean just play the teams near you and no-one else. When you have a friday night fixture, play the teams closest. Then play the teams furthest away on Saturdays or Sundays so that people can at least get the opportunity to attend. |

Barry McKenzie has noticed the Sharkies crowds have got lower since he arrived at Sydney Airport with his rucksack and boarded Qantas flight 31 to Heathrow.
I wouldnt be arrogant enough to suggest that crowds used to come to Shark Park to see the Dalai Lama of footy himself.....but it does make you wonder.......

Wigan are looking favourites to top the attendance chart this season, so long term I'd say it's starting to work.

I agree with what your saying to an extent but lets be honest, with regards to away support, I don't think what your proposing would make much of a difference. Regardless of the day/time, there are only a handful of teams in the league that take a respectable following to away matches, and it's been the same for a while imo. Without doubt travelling to matches on a friday night is no easy task and I can understand that a lot of people find it hard to attend for this reason. However, I think a lot of fans just use it as an excuse more than anything. We (FC) took over 2000 fans to Wigan earlier on in the season (on a friday night) yet the biggest following we are used to seeing at the KC is around 1/4 of that figure (barring KR). Wigan played Cas last SUNDAY afternoon and about 300 Cas fans where there.
And in all honesty I think that even if we played all of our home games on a sunday afternoon, you wouldnt see much of an improvement in the away attendance. |
