| A perfunctory statement from Wigan today. Why is it that the club is only "disappointed" now, after the video emerged last night, and not when they were informed about their actions by the pub manager weeks ago?
They've ultimately dealt with the two idiots involved, but it's disappointing that they've been shamed into doing so.

Apart from invading the space of a female whilst drunk knowing full well you are not allowed behind the bar at a pub.
Joel took it too far, hopefully he will learn from this and make amends at least to the poor lass.

| Will Wigan even notice Joel has gone for 4 games? That gap in the bar was the first gap he’s been through in years.

| I think we should also applaud the upstanding Wigan rugby club for such a swift response to an incident that happened 5 weeks ago.

| Well done Wigan. Leneghan was never going to accept that. Just shows the moral difference between Lancs and Yorkshire

| Just wait until Hardaker gets over to Wigan, he'll have them all in order. A cup of tea after the game and an early night I would think.

| Jokes aside. It’s good to see Wigan being transparent with the punishment which is probably proportional

| Quote: Psychedelic Casual "I always say, why do rugby league fans defend these sort of actions of rugby league players? Show me a video of Mo Farah, Adam Peaty, Anthony Joshua, David Silva, Andy Murray acting like this (or even in a pub full stop) and I’d be less inclined to shake my head when people do it. But 123 years after our sport supposedly became professional, we still have a huge amount of idiots in the game acting unprofessionally.
Professional athletes in a pub during the season?! That’s laughable. I watched a video of David Silva eating a Manchester Tart once and he only had a bite and said “I shouldn’t have more than that, it’s bad for your body and I have training tomorrow.. but it’s very tasty, thank you” (although admittedly there are still numerous idiots in football as well!)
Yet you get rugby league players inebriated during the season all the time- smoking too. What’s going on?! It’s not 1992 anymore. Letting your hair down and getting ed on your days off went out of fashion decades ago in other sports. Anyone reckons Roger Federer has got back to world number 1 in tennis at 36 by getting poop faced down his local on his days off?
A lad I know was telling a few lads that he was made to go on a drinking awareness course (he was suspended from work for a drinking misdemeanour!) and they said that after a good drinking session you can still be unfit to drive for up to four days after the drinking session. What does that say about lads who go into training the day after the hangover day in rugby? Or if they put a load of alcohol into their bodies the night after a game. Their bodies must be put under some poor conditions and performances must suffer in training and game day.'"
This is pretty much my opinion. Professional athletes should not be out drinking. Fans will always defend players saying they should be allowed to have a good time etc etc.
I think Joel tomkins will be let go. His form hasn't been great and now this incident has definitely killed his Wigan career

| If the Tomkins brothers played for any team outside the "big four", they would've been sacked.

I actually think that Wigan have handled this very poorly. They've succumbed to trial by media.
From the reports that are out in public. They were made aware of and investigated this incident five weeks ago when the bar manager reported it. From his comments in the Wigan newspaper, the matter seemed to have been resolved to everyone's satisfaction.
Only after the video emerged online and baying mob of social media grabbed their pitchforks does the club call the players into a meeting this morning and decide to take a "hard line" against the players involved. Within the space of 24 hours, we've gone from an incident that was seemingly resolved to one where Wigan have handed out a four match ban, £15k of fines and pretty much told one player to pack his bags. The only thing that changed? The fuel of social media.
Radlinski's comments are weasel words. Wigan are only "disappointed" because they've been caught out. They've handled this terribly.
There is no way that Wigan should have thought that, in the age of camera phones and social media, this would have just 'gone away'. The punishment that they have ultimately come to is a fair one, but it is the way they have come to it in my view that is worrying. They could have taken a strong stance on this issue weeks ago and dealt with the issue without any of this nonsense.

| Only acting once it’s come out in the public domain is not handling it well. Poor form from the club and maybe why wane is leaving.
