| Quote OzWelsh="OzWelsh"Wigan would be fine on their own obviously, so Leigh would survive on the luck of where they're located, Salford and Oldham would still be clubs too, they would have a chance of promotion, but I've been so disappointed with Salford's crowds this yr. In future I would like Liverpool Buccaneers and Manchester Trojans have full-time teams.
Also I would like us to trial continuous live rucks. Maybe not with exactly the same laws as they have in RU, but something similar. But no to bringing back line-outs and contested scrums, in fact get rid of scrums altogether. And 1 point for a conversion instead of 2.'"
And play with 15 players a side

| It would still obviously be 13-a-side. Flip!
The SH don't need to do this, but it should be considered. They are right what they say about European RL, that it's soft. The collisions in the NRL are so much more intense most of the time, than up here, they usually never go back less than 10m, and sometimes go back as much as 12m from the tackle area; up here it's usually about 8m. How would J Peacock go right now in the NRL?
A Cuthbertson couldn't get a starting place in an NRL team, and up here's he's being talked about as an England player! Hahahahahaha.

I normally detest when a poster is chastised for being a complete knob jockey, however, in this instance, you are proving to be a key board warrior of the 7 fingered type, and I recommend you go get some meds or some other means to counter your 1st episode of psychosis

| Are you saying that the intensity in Europe is the same as in the NRL? Lol.
Some ppl don't like to face reality.
Cuthbertson looks awesome in SL, yet couldn't get a start in the NRL, L Walsh turfed out of the NRL, then a few months later I hear Terry O'Connor say that he could be the Man of Steel. No wonder I've read an Aussie say that he feels depressed after reading British RL forums.
1970, Britain last beat Aus. in a RL Test Series.

No. We've beaten the Aussies since then in a test series, just not enough to win the series. The intensity isn't there in the British game in every game, however I've watched some pretty poor stuff in the NRL this year so its not all high collision intense games week in week out either.
With regards to poor NRL players being good in SL, then that doesn't mean much. There have been aussies etc. who've come over here who couldn't get a gig in the NRL and gone back better players. This has happened for years. From my club I can name 2 who didn't come here as regulars but went back and were pretty good. Blake Green being one and Gavin Miller the other.

| In keeping with the topic/thread, my favourite film about otters is 'Ring Of Bright Water', not 'Tarka The Otter'. What do you folk reckon ?

| Call of the Wild was the best, apart from having no otters in it.

| I think it would make RL more compelling to watch if we brought back continuous live rucks. IMO NH RL is too helter-skelter, and not structured enough, and usually SH RL is too structured. We should get rid of scrums, they're almost impossible to referee, that's the reality of scrums IMO.

| Just watched one of those high intense games OZWelsh was talking about this morning. Warriors v Cowboys. Was a cracker with the result in the balance until the last minute.

Don't try and discredit me.
You know, as do most that across the board the RL is more intense than SL. Many in Aus. say that SL is the equivalent of the QLD Cup, they're not far wrong seeing that T McCarthy was playing Q Cup last year.
Obv. not all NRL matches are going to be v intense, esp. when N QLD knew that they could beat this Warriors side playing in second gear; no Johnson, Townsend, Leuluai.

I would say, as many others have done previously, that top of SL is roughly of a similar standard to mid NRL, mid SL similar to bottom of NRL. Though some players seem to buck the trend in both directions, e.g. Josh Hodgson and Cuthbertson.
