Yes. I've never defended McIlorum's challenge.

Embarrassing refereeing and the amount of forward passes and lying on from Leeds was ridiculous. And what a moaning set of pussies they're turning out to be.

Thaler should be kicked down to amateur level until he sharpens his game and grows some balls.

Anger and bitterness taken to a new level.

Oh no not quite a new level actually, after all some Wigan fans have gone further in the past.

As it is I dont think either will be banned, both looked lazy rather than malicious.

If they do get banned however, ill just accept that as a difference of opinion between me and the disciplinary panel, rather than some crazy conspiracy where the RFL are trying to engineer a Leeds GF win by banning Mike bloody Mcilorum.'"

So you genuinely believe that Danny McGuire does not deserve a ban from the RFL for that challenge tonight?

Let's roll reverse. Had Kevin Sinfield made the challenge Mike McIlorum made a couple of weeks ago and received a red card and a three match ban, then a couple of weeks later Gareth Hock made the challenge Danny McGuire made tonight can you honestly say that you would be of the same opinion and would be vehemently denying the claims of inconsistency that fans are making tonight?

You, sir, are talking utter !

Any way, regardless of Wigan bitterness and Thaler, i thought it was a great game, some great skills, Catalans have some big tough forwards and played their part well, Leeds kicking game was the difference in my opinion, Sinfield best player on the field, was making some big hits right until the end and controlled Leeds really well.

Leeds were lying on and Catalans weren't??!! Wow. Dislike Leeds by all means but talk sense in doing so.

Burrow's knock on at the scrum should have been picked up. Peacock's offside/not square should have been picked up too. Two atrocious decisions that went against the Catalans.

I feel very sorry for them. Inept refereeing cost them big time.'"

Their first try was a very dodgy call by the VR, and they should never have had the ball in the first place leading up to the McGuire high shot because Dereau played at the ball and Leeds should've had another 6. Catalans then went and scored off the back of it.

The ref didn't cost them, not winning the arm wrestle and letting Ryan Bailey run through half their team cost them. They got almost double the penalties Leeds got FFS. But no doubt they'll throw their toys out of the pram and go back to playing in the French league.

Straw man argument. And your not only taking rubbish but your just making things up.

And FWIW I would say McGuire deserves 1 match

You're defending a claim that I never made - are you that paranoid?

Inept officiating cost Les Catalans. The penalty count is irrelevant. Key decisions were still missed by the officials, namely, the Rob Burrow knock on at the scrum and the one where Jamie Peacock not square/offside call when Leeds were really under the wrack!

McGuire should have walked after the precedent set a couple of weeks back by Child and Ganson. Fakir should have walked too.

-------------------------------------------------

Moving away from anything personally aimed at SmokeyTA and more in general of RL supporters, I've never understood this gloating/poking fun attitude that supporters have when rival teams have key decisions go against them and poor officiating costs teams matches. It's a huge problem for our sport. The inconsistency from referees week to week is of major concern. Coaches complain constantly from atrocious decisions made against their sides. Les Catalans in particular have had a torrid run with poor officials - I wonder if that's why Trent Robinson thought "screw it I'm off to Australia"? Perhaps not but perhaps it contributed?

I thought our referees moving to full-time would have seen standards improve but IMHO they're at an all time low and you've got to question why? Surely they should be on the up?

The judiciary process is an even bigger problem - something that everyone - fans/players/coaches - tend to agree on. It must change.

Hock makes one of those challenges once a month, Burrow takes one once a game, one even worse happened later in the same game, strangely the Fakir challenge seems to have been picked up on much much less.

Mcilorums was many times worse, you may think that Mcguire's challenge is worth a ban, but that isnt dependent on Mcilorum's punishment, they are different and independent incidents, just because Mcilorum got sent off for his challenge, that doesnt mean Mcguire needs to be sent off for his, they are judged on their own merits, not as some evening up mechanism.

If Mcguire is banned, it is because his tackle was judged to be worthy of a ban. Mcilorums punishment plays no part.

I would turn your question on you. Ignore Mcilorums challenge and punishment, dont use it as a comparison. Independently, judged in isolation, do you think Mcguire's tackle was THAT bad?

It was an all-round inept performance from Thaler, but for those saying Catalans came off worse I've got to disagree.

McGuire's challenge was lazy & reckless, not deliberately dangerous. It should get 1 match.

Fakir deliberately raises the forearm so he can make contact with the face of a tackler as he goes into the tackle. It's not lazy, it's not careless, it's a deliberate attempt to injure the tackler. It should get 3 matches.

As for the rest of the game, multiple decisions (Burrow's FB/Dureau's play at the ball) went against both sides, and all could have been called back, preventing tries that were subsequently scored.

The one thing I would say re: consistency, is that Leeds got penalised for a number of high shots, where similar tackles by Catalans players were not penalised-particularly on Burrow, but also on Peacock, Jones-Buchanan and Hall. This is what needs ironing out.

i do. i thought mcguire and fakir should have walked.
however those that thought catalans were hard done by should watch it again. thaler was awful for both teams, as was child on the line
