| I've got to agree with Dico on this one, I simply don't see where these thousands of neutrals are going to come from to watch Wigan.
Leeds' average crowd in 2004 was roughly similar to Wigan's this season. The 2005 WCC got a crowd of 37,208 with large marketing efforts and with a large corporate effort from Leeds on the back of Leeds first championship for 30 odd years and in a flourishing economy. Where are the extra 20,000 people going to come from to support Wigan?
It's not a question of thinking big, it's a question of thinking realistically. Wembley or OT would be embarrassing for the sport since even 50K in those grounds look bad. In this context holding it at Anfield and getting close to filling it IS thinking big. I would be amazed if the crowd was well over 30,000.

That was over 20 years ago, that season Wigan also got over 30,000 for a tour match v Australia and GB got over 50,000 v Australia. Things have changed, people watch the game in a different way hence relatively good regular SL crowds but relatively poor Challenge Cup and Playoff crowds.

| As it is, I think Wigan have earned the right to play it at their home ground if the Aussies don't want to play ball, and I don't see any reason why it can't be close to a sell-out. I know it's not a patch on the Old Trafford & Wembley ideas, but they were never really going to work anyway.

I'll be there, i'm a Leigh fan. But as a Rugby League fan, this will be a game not to miss.
Is there any way Wiggin could sell out the 25k, then if they need to sell any more ticket, put up temporary stands in the corners to get the capacity up?

| there is no way to acheive a crowd of 50,000 plus thats pie in the sky,the actual population of the town of wigan is around 90,000 according to wikipedia, the manly game in 87 was the first of its kind and caught the whole of the rugby leauge supporting communitys imagination, the game should be at the dw stadium and a full house would be attracted, the only alternative i can see in the local area is holding it at goodison with a capacity of around 38,000 but even this is optomistic.
