I was p***ed and so was my son and his mates. I can`t talk for anyone else but we were all loved up, on a Wire high. We were having the crack with all the different clubs fans some of who were p***ed too. Unblelievable day. Will stay with me forever.

| Quote: sirlesboyd "Please find below a copy of the post I put on the Warrington site this morning. If you think it is biased due to being a Warrington supporter then I can assure you it is not. You can trivialise events like this as just a bit of fighting if you wish but this bit of fighting ruined the day for kids and adults alike.
With regards to the trouble in the right hand corner of the Warrington end ( block 109 ) can I say that the Leeds "supporters" in that block ( approx rows 4 to 12 ) were an absolute disgrace. They were mostly in their 20s but ranged up to I'd guess 40 years old
I was sat approx 5 rows right behind them.
Can I thank them for showering my 68 year old parents with beer on at least 3 occasions ( along with their friend who came to his first game of rugby for 30 years ).
Can I thank them for offering my 68 year old dad out for a fight after he complained about the first of the beer showers.
Can I thank them for offering to fight a group of teenagers ( 13/14 year olds ) further a log the rows from them for having the temerity to applaud Warrington when they scored.
Can I thank them for the obscene gestures that we were subjected to from before the kick off until the time they actually decided that they had all had enough to drink and would mow like to start fighting with 10 minutes to go.
Can i thank them for hitting my wife with a plastic cup of beer
Can i thank them also for hitting the little girl about 5 rows above me in the face with a plastic cup of beer.
Can I thank them for reducing children around me to tears due to fear.
But can i also thank the moronic Warrington fans who rose to the bait thus ensuring a fight finally ensued.
A great day ruined. At the final hooter I didnt actually know the score because people were trying to calm everybody down.
To any Leeds fans sat down in this corner who obviously were not involved in this incident I apologise unreservedly for tarring you with the same brush as these morons. We had great banter with genuine Leeds supporters all day.
But to the group of Leeds "supporters" who instigated all the trouble.
You managed to spoil a great day out for hundreds of people. My wife will not attend another match if there is a chance that away fans could be mingled in with home fans ( ie Grand Final ). So thanks for that.
I do not want this brushed under the carpet or ignored because we won. I want the CC footage examined and I want to see the main instigators charged ( including the WArrington fans if necessary ). I want to see the people hurling the plastic pots filled with beer at people charged with assault. Any chance. NO.
Another solution ??'"
damn thats is terrible behaviour. Real disgrace!

| How people always blame alcohol for the problem annoys me. There's plenty of people who have drink and don't become stupid and violent. The people who cause trouble have it in their nature already.
Oh and they should also hang their heads in shame for first paying £4.50 for rubbish beer and then throwing it away.

Good to see you have no actual argument. Again, don't lose sleep over it lol.

| It isnt new, but it is, thankfully still in the great minority for a major RL game.
Beer isnt the problem, drinking is the problem. Idiotism is. so lets not start banning booze, lets start banning idiots.
In this case there was an issue in one small part of the ground, the rest of the day I am sure went brilliantly for everyone (that doesnt make up for those that had their day spoiled) - same as it does at the Magic Weekends.

This.
Anyone who travelled to see Leeds in Perpignan a few years ago will probably be aware of a small band of idiots who managed to spoil a very well run BBQ event with their moronic behaviour. They didn't act like prats because they have been drinking (plenty of us had been drinking), they acted like prats because they were prats.
There were 85,000 people at Wembley yesterday, many of them who will have been on the ale at some point during the day, and very few problems. The only time I saw a police officer all day was walking back along Olympic Way to Wembley Park station (compare that with Leeds United's trip a few years ago).
Unfortunately, we will always have idiots walk among us. When you have a stadium that is largely staffed by disinterested teenagers working for a security agency for £5.50 an hour, you are going to have these incidents occur.

I don't think the disinterested staff caused the problem and the guys in the light blue jackets were quick at stopping it.

| I wonder if any fines will be dished out to clubs, or is that reserved for Cas?

| Warrington fans are a disgrace to Rugby League etc.
Looked like a decent ruck, I could see punches being thrown from my seat in the opposite stand.
Didn't come across any trouble really, apart from a few Hunslet fans winding up Leeds supporters.

Fines are given to the clubs that are in control of the crowd. As this was an RFL event, and the incident in question was resolved, I don't see why there would need to be anything of the sort. The only thing Leeds, Wire and the RFL can do after is identify and ban people.

What you describe is almost identical, word for word, to what I witnessed at the 2005 Leeds/Hull final at Cardiff except that I was sat four rows closer to it than you.
To those who say that it is not alcohol that causes these problems, I'm not sure where your reasoning comes from, sure it takes an aggressive individual to want to create such mob violence in the first place but its the alcohol that is the spark to the fusewire, it would be a shame to ban alcohol sales inside the stadium because that is only part of the problem - anti-social behaviour like throwing beer around should be an instant ejection from the ground, no questions asked.
And like bramleyrhino I too was part of the same bbq night in Perpignan that was completely ruined by another gang of middle aged boozed-up fekkwits who simply did not have the knowledge of how to control their moronic behaviour under the influence of alcohol.
It embarrassing when its attached to your club but the truth is its a whole tranche of society who simply don't know how to control themselves now.

| What is even more disconcerting is there are people posting on here who sem to condone these actions.
Rugby League PRIDES itself on a friendly FAMILY sport.
OK! occasionally the language at matches, at times is a bit near the knuckle but then words really never physically hurt anyone.
The people involved in this ruck really should be ashamed of themselves but they won't be.
Nobody is going to "dob in a mate".
Such a shame.

| Well I went yesterday with 3 of my mates and we were sat with Wire,Wigan,Hull and Widnes fans and I never seen any trouble all day and you could tell that we all had a few beers and I did not have any trouble with any of them.
A few people on here said it's down to the beer I disagree with these comments completely as we ourselves had a few beers and there was not a hint of trouble at all just having a really good time.

You're missing the point - millions of people have a beer every night of the week and don't end up fighting.
But there is a personality defect in a minority of males (and an increasing number of females) which is triggered by alcohol to seek out conflict, unfortunately a sporting stadium offers lots of opportunity for one of those trigger points and if the rest of the crowd don't respond they'll just keep winding and winding until someone does.
Call it a mental illness or a genetic defect but there are people around who actively seek out violent situations after taking in alcohol.
