Ha ha, reffy beat me to it - Telstar by the tornados Dec 1962. However, David Rose & his orchestra hit the top with The Stripper in July 1962.
The 1st british solo artist to it the top in America was Mr. Acker Bilk with Stranger on the Shore in May 1962.

The nrl uaed to have a "song for the season"..... Tina turners simply the best was one i recall.
Given the ability of the sl chairmen to secure no major deals or imcome after breaking away from the rfl, maybe they should use a catchy nimber to market the current season.
The Dead Kennedy's "Too drunk to F%/7" would be a cracking song for this years opening credits to the SL show

Another thing would be the TV coverage.
Can we get some new graphics from Sky. They have used those robot men for years now and its time for something new.
Also please no more referees in the commentary box!!!
Get rid of Pinky and Perky. No idea what those two earn but whatever it is it's too much.

I like William Arthur. He gets bad reviews on here, but he is much loved in other quarters. He is always fair and respectful towards the French players, be they playing for Catalans, Wigan or St Helens. I wish William Arthur a happy and healthy 2020. |
