The flatcappers won’t like this comment, they think Toronto should be made to alternate between home and away every week with as many 4 day turnarounds as possible.

What it should be is well planned, thought through and agreed by the governing body, in advance.
The current spat between Noble (TWP) and The RFL should never have been possible.
All parties knew that TWP would be challenging at the top of the Championship and therefore, likey be involved in the play offs, it really shouldn't be that difficult to have the format laid out in advance, should it ? a poor effort on both sides.

| Distance makes you feel tired but it is crossing timezones that foo bars your body clock. Sydney to NZ is 2 hours (equivalent to London to Athens), Toronto to London is 5 hours. Big difference. (P.S. I’ve done a fair bit of long haul and, e.g. the 7 hour five sector trip to Chicago had a worse effect than the 11 hour one sector trip to Johannesburg)

Well, we're certainly missing Bradford in terms of attendances. This may not exactly mean that we 'need' them, but finances would be boosted if they were in SL with a competitive side.

This cant be true as away fans are no longer deemed important, hence the clamour to include TWP in SL

Actually London to Athens is almost twice the time that you quote.

100% spot on. Argyle wanted to play with our ball and as such, our rules.
£300,000? so flipping what......he's minted isn't he?
Next year it should be 3 away games, followed by 2 home then alternate weeks after that.......if they don't like it, then they can feck off!

Away fans don't make a major fiscal contribution to the turnover of a SL club. This is a mathematical fact, not an opinion......an opinion would be that away fans create a better atmosphere, which may in some cases be true.....I am really looking forward to Trailfinders this week for the visit of Leeds......it should be a cracking atmosphere, but the extra £20,000 on the gate matters little to David Hughes.
Toronto replacing Widnes will cost SL clubs about an average of £8,000 each next year.......if they replace Salford it'll be about £5,000 each.....

The comment was tongue in cheek concerning SL "needing" a resurgent Bradford side, who will themselves very likely be challenging in the top 4 of The Championship next season.
Btw, I think that you may have done the away fans calculation to death, it's like having the wife going on and on about something you already know.

Quote: bramleyrhino "You just need to look at how they package the whole gameday experience. Take a look at their social media channels and see just how they build their home games into an event that people want to be at. Whether that's with the beer tents, the after-parties, the way they engage with venues around the city to create a buzz. It's all there. And that isn't just me looking at it through the lens of online - it's coming first hand from people who have been there.
As for the media profile, they have a weekly slot on one of the major sports talk radio stations and there has been more written about Toronto in the media than all of the Championship clubs, and most SL clubs combined. They're a positive story, and RL sorely needs positive stories right now. Tell me, how many RL clubs were the focus of rla column in The Guardian this weekrl? On Saturday, there will be three games back-to-back on Sky Sports. That wouldn't be happening without expansion clubs.
Seriously, what more do you want them "to bring"? If we were talking about a heartland club here, people would be waxing lyrical about how all clubs should be doing this. But because there's a body of water between them and their nearest club, they're a threat to certain clubs and so nothing that they achieve will ever be enough in the eyes of many on here.'"
So they've reached the equivalent interest of the same broadsheet as Batley and Dewsbury did a few weeks ago https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/ ... ocal-derby

That would be the better compromise but to offer them blocks of 4-6 games on a home/away basis is just not acceptable in a sport at top tier level, they might have done it at championship level but to mess up scheduling at super league level to accommodate one team is not on.
One of the biggest problems would be the semi final and final of the challenge cup, if teams still in that comp have to travel to Toronto in between those two games its going to mess up pre and post preparations and be a big disadvantage.
As for incurring extra costs, thats the individual clubs problem and shouldn't be a factor for consideration by the RFL.

'"
This could be one of, if not the, main factors in deciding who gains promotion and it may count in Toronto's favour or, heavily against them.
It seems a crazy system when the travel itself could be the issue that decides who gains promotion to or is relegated from SL, especially for Tronoto, who will be clocking up air miles for fun.
Getting the preparation right for any "final" is critical and where the MPG is played together with where the teams involved have played in the previous week could be THE defining factor in deciding which club is promoted.

It's true, they aren't. Any sport or club who relies on away support in their business model is doing it very wrong.

What about other wealthy owners like Hughes and Koukash?? <SEE OTHER SPLIT THREAD> Marwan Koukash was 'known' to be a multi-billionaire yet failed to lift Salford to a regular top 8 outfit. Koukah also has a string of failed businesses too.
Argyle on the other is a successful 'real' billionaire, so I'm sure Toronto are in safe hands.

You post a numbered list of whinges culled from "someone who knows Paul Anderson", a Leigh coach who is known to be rabidly anti-Toronto.
I post a somewhat light-hearted rebuttal, given that most of the away players that I've seen on sm and met in the beer garden all seem to be enjoying themselves.
You then recommend that I shut it because ... you aren't prepared to consider that Paul Anderson's mate might just confirming your own preset prejudices?
