I'd rather them talk up the skill of the players rather than focus on defensive errors though.

Sure, but the defender did make it easier due to poor positioning and effectively doing nothing, however it was the "try of the season" statement that was utterly out of kilter with everyone else and so ridiculous that it stood out.

Yeah Escare's defensive effort was appalling. I don't think it's a major issue them going over the top like that though; it's their job to help sell the sport after all. I'm more bothered about them obsessing over marginal ref decisions at the expense of talking up the skill of the players. The other area I'd like to see improvement is for them to give genuine expert comment on what's happening in the game, I suspect that bit is because they don't really know, given that we having wingers and props as our experts. It would be interesting to see what happened if you put Sinfield and Briers (for example) in there rather than Baz and Tez.

Funny thing is, in my opinion it's the other way round. Davis just dosn't add anything to the commentary.
But I'd much rather listen to any of these 3 compared to the sky lot, who at times genuinely baffle me with what they talk about, or with there comments on the game they're supposed to be watching.
Difference between NRL commentators and ours, is they have a a play by play
Commentator. We have people who have suddenly remember what they're supposed to be doing half way through a set.

| The commentators should do what it says on the tin and commentate when the ball is in play. The time for chit-chat is when the clock's been stopped. The same is happening with football, with too many "pundits" throwing in the same old cliches time and time again.

| Anthony Rea (aka "Tony Ray"icon_wink.gif is a very knowledgeable commentator who can explain the technical sides of the game to a mass audience.
John Kear is also good. He has a lot of experience as a coach, he has a sense of humour, and he speaks French, which is a sign of better education than most commentators.
I think that having those two alongside Edward Hemmings instead of Phillip Clarke, Barrie McDermott and Terence O'Connor, would raise the quality of the Sky telecast to a whole new level.
People would then stop complaining about Mr Edward Hemmings.

Eddie seems more interested in getting himself and the others over as characters rather than the match and the players. Seems to think people love their 'banter'. So many guys up there doesn't help. Why can't we just have a 2 man commentary team with cutting to a studio guest for a view twice or so a half. It's simple and would cost Sky less. How much must they waste on wages having 6/7 guys on commentary/studio a game.

Well, you're masquerading as a dead RU player, which is weird.

Why do you keep making up names for people?
Tony Rae's name literally is just Tony, not Anthony. Eddie Hemmings name is literally just Eddie, not Edward?
