| The thing is, it's still been four years of sitting at the bottom of SL. Salford public are apathetic at best with RL and consist of a large number of fair weather fans who will only come back when we actually appear in the top half of the table. In fact, they may never appear either. While the Club isn't perfect when it comes to selling itself in the community, it is trying hard.
Salford are playing decent stuff, and the players and MK deserve a lot more backing from the Salford public than they do.

| Very similar to us, all those years of misery have taken it's toll, we did improve our crowds with cheap season ticket deals, and a few decent seasons without winning anything, but now those people have drifted away, we are down to our hardcore, of around 4,000 and that is dwindling away pretty rapidly because people can't stomach defeat after defeat.
We don't have a heap of money to throw at marketing so that's almost non existant, and it's a vicious circle, as the less people that stop coming and paying into the club then the club is only going one way.

| Butcher's comments are spot on: there are marketing initiatives but they are not being read. I agree we do need to try harder. But there does need to be a real sea change in attitude.
Friday almost caused a divorce in the HBR household: I live in Rochdale and used public transport to get home. I decided to use a no. 67 bus to Manchester rather than going for a drink with friends and getting a train from Patricroft. Currently there are no trams from Eccles to Manchester. The bus didn't appear (or was late) so I jumped on a 10 ; the 10 goes everywhere in Salford rather than the direct route of the 67. I had by now missed the last train so took the Rochdale tram. This takes 40/50 mins. as it meanders through Oldham. My phone went down. Missus could not be contacted. She expected me home about 11:00 - 11:30. On arrival in Rochdale, I then went to find a taxi and they were not easy to find (it's Ramadan). Match ended c 10:00 p.m. HBR got home 12:45 a.m.
OK, I am unusual in that I use public transport and support a team far from where I live. I am not unusual in that I live in Rochdale and support Salford: there are several other Salfordians in the town.
Imagine if I had brought a friend or my wife!

| Which is annoying when comments come from people who can and do walk up to their ground.
Mind you, I do feel as if I am supporting a dying game. RU is now far more entrenched in the NW. Association Football has taken over almost every sport.

| You could bike it to Salford from Rochdale in an hour, it's about 15 miles and all downhill, getting back mind is a different kettle of fish.
In all seriousness the location and huge failure to ensure you have ease of access/egress was the most heinous and shocking decision for a community based club and unless you had lots of success then a huge drop off in attendances (and all the massive downsides that follow from that) was a gimme.
If it weren't for the fair-ground land adjacent to the KCom, parking would be horrendous, as it is getting away from the stadium car parks isn't what i would call ideal but by no means the worst though we always parked up at my nan's and walked over.
Access isn't too bad and the stadium is within walking distance for many, train station is about a 15-20 minute walk too and this is were Salford massively falls down as being said it's literally miles away and unless you have access to a vehicle for those living in the Salford RL catchment area it's not within reasonable walking distance.
I'd still like to see clubs provide for secure cycle parking facilities however, I'd certainly bike it from the other side of the city with my mum when I'm up visiting Hull and tbh there's not a lot in it time wise cycling back compared to using the car. There is what looks like a canal path that runs to the back of the AJ, maybe some promotion for people to be able to bike it on a Sunday afternoon as opposed to using the car?

Firstly, they haven't for all fansone area where you know the fans could congregate before and after the match.
I used to drink with many before they went to Edgeley and I set off for Salford (I work in Stockport).
Secondly, by being positive.

Thirdly, the nature of much of their fan base is different. It is almost pyramidical. They could play for a local team, support a more regional team, and go to Sale as the super-regional representative team.
Fourthly, from friends who have attended the games: the match figures can be questioned (allegedly).
