| I seem to remember a lot of people saying James Roby was an unworthy winner because he interchanged with Cunningham in 2007 (even though the majority of games he moved to 13 when Cunningham came back on and played around 60 mins a game). Higham has been very good this season but has also interchanged with Monaghan and played in spells, so surely people who said Roby didn't deserve it can't believe he deserves it?
For me should be Danny Brough, don't like the guy much but he has been instrumental for Hudds this year and lee them around the park brilliantly, just a pity McBanana messed him around so we won't see him in an England shirt at WC

I think he has had headlines all season which has to help. I think alot of players will think like you that he should be in the England team and that might sway their vote plus as you say without him Huddersfield would not be up there wheras Wigan and Wire would without Tomkins and Higham. Players voting is unpredictable to say the least but I think your average Wigan Leeds or Wire player would rather vote for a Huddersfield player than one from the other 2 sides.
I am not sure Brough is liked by othet players in the way Crabtree Peacock or O Loighlin is (and not sure even his team mates like him thay much out on the field the amount of verbals he gives out) but he will not have got too many players backs ups and seems the logical choice.

totally different, cunningham was kicking ass, then roby was coming on and running like on tired defences.
So it was an effective duo.
higham has started most games, monas is running about on knees made of biscuit and shouldn't be playing anymore, doing bare minimum, its not symbitic, higham is dragging us around the park and killing teams.
He's a deffo contender, he should be, in fact there's only him and myler that have any consistant form throughout the year, higham's been fantastic, and i say that, as someone who was majorly ed off at him for his playing style at sintellins, and wigan, and most of all at bradford, he didn't show any form whatsoever there.

I think he's too old for the young player of the year.

Regardless of the hooker interchanging, the main complaint about Roby from the majority was that he wasnt on the field long enough to deserve to win MOS as an interchange hooker, yet a lot of the same people seem to think Higham is worthy this year (even though he plays less minutes than Roby was doing in 07).
Dont get me wrong, Higham has had a great season and I think he will be up there in the running, my point was its interesting that Roby didnt deserve it when he won it due to not being on field long enough yet many seem to think Higham should get it this year

| Higham plays 60 mins a match, sometimes he does the full 80, what's your point again?

Monaghan plays longer than 20 mins for Wire so Higham averages 40-50 mins a game, Roby played around 60 per week in 2007 between hooker and 13 for Saints yet was deemed by many not to have played enough minutes, yet a lot of those people think Higham deserves MOS on less game time each week...just interesting to read

| The main complaint against Roby was him being a 'one-trick pony' rather than time spent on the pitch, although rotating with Cunningham went against him. Granted, he's fantastic at his 'one trick' - the scoot - but how that elevated him to the status of MoS in 2007 is beyond me. The best player in SL that year was Barrett by a country mile, as confirmed by the Player's Player vote.
Higham has always been a superb player. I was gutted when he left Wigan - always got the impression he was a step ahead of some of those around him, although he was prone to the occasional brain-fart (who isn't?) and went himself at times when he should have stuck to distribution. No complaints if he took MoS this year - he's a thoroughly nice guy and has been on fire for Warrington this year, seeming to have eliminated most of his dodgier decision-making.

| Id certainly take Roby in 07 as MoS over Richards in 2010.
Roby is far better than a one trick pony, he is a top-quality player in a pivotal position.

| Apart from his on the field showings the dignity Broughy showed handing the shield to Ken Davy will not have gone unoticed and think he is a shoe in to get it and possibly by a very wide margin.

| A lot of people still judge Brough by the man he was 5 years ago, in the last couple of years he has matured into a a great captain and leader - yeah his footballing ability is one of the main reasons he has guided the giants to the top of the league, but his leadership and direction has been a big part of it too
It's nice to know others have had a glimpse of his nature now as the Huddersfield captain.

| Well no forward has won since Graham in '08 so perhaps the odds are stacked against Peacock in the newer player vote. Either way a final 3 of Brough, Peacock, Higham seems the popular and right choice.
It'll also give the journalists and internet coaches on here a field day if Brough won with him not being in the England for the devil incarnate Sinfield.
