Oh dear......it would appear that the arrogance of those living on the poisoned rock shows no signs of diminishing.
70k watch the warriors here on SLY TV, 400k watch super Rugby, whilst in SA, nobody watches the NRL, whilst hundreds of thousands watch S15......State of Origin attracted a combined AU/NZ audience of 4.2 million.....the RWC semi final attracted 1 million more......SoO is the pinacle of the RL calendar and it got 20% less viewers than the kick'n'clap. The NRL averages 16,000 fans per game, Australias S15 Teams averaged 19,500......
In Brisbane, the reds averaged more than the broncos, Canberra, the raiders trail the Brumbies by nearly 5k a game and the storm lag behind the rebels.....we can't compare the S15 franchise in western Aussie with an NRL team, because the NRL doesn't yet have a team west of anywhere.....National comp my @rse....
The weekend just gone saw 9,108 fans turn up to watch the 2nd placed storm.......Penrith attracted 7,437.......yet you'd have people believe that everything is AOK in the NRL
Back on Thread: Rugby League has a snowballs chance in Hell of being accepted as an Olympic Sport, based on the FACT that it is played professionally in 2 leagues GLOBALLY and because it doesn't have an internationally recognised presence around the world.....it is important in NSW and Brisbane...elsewhere it plays second fiddle the bigger and more popular code....tell me again about the u20's viewing figures....it makes you look so clever

In what way? Viewing figures in Aus?
What about the WC?
You have perceived southern hemisphere to mean Australia. Is RL that big in Australia that it dwarfs union in an entire hemisphere? Are you really that arrogant?

Whilst we can all laugh at the ridiculousness of that figure, it still remains that despite the NRL having a huge advantage over S15, when it comes to internationals, RU absolutely dominate and more than make up for the loss in domestic. SoO is three games a year. How many games do Aus, NZ, SA and Argentina play a year? How many do they get large crowds for?
RL is massively behind RU due to this "club game's doing well" attitude.

Maybe on the eastern seaboard, but not the entire southern hemisphere.

Southern Hemisphere...head to head.
RLWC 2008:
18 Games
293,965 Fans averaging 16,331
Semi finals attendance 42,422 in stadiums with a capacity of 98,000....43%
Final attendance 50,599 96%
RWC 2013
48 Games
1,477,294 fans averaging 30,777
Semi finals attendance 118,717 ...capacity available 121,000 98%
Final attendance 61,000 100%
More people attended the last 5 games of the RWC 2011 (1X QF 2X SF 1X Final & 1 x Bronze) than watched the entire RLWC
The most watched game of Rugby of either code EVER across australasia (Including Kiwis like the NRL do so as to look bigger than the AFL)...was when 5,207,180 Viewers tuned into the RWC semi between the Aussies and AB's.....that's bigger than AFL or NRL grand Final figures and a whole 20% ahead of anything SoO can muster.
We get it JB, NRL fans are insecure little mites when it comes to other football codes and have an almost religious fanatacism with regard to TV viewing figures/attendances.........but only when it suits them.
Facts as they stand at the moment are that the NRL will get a billion dollar deal for it's TV and internet rights.....Fact is that's a massive amount of money......but it doesn't change the fact that 15 teams along the east coast of Australia as well as a team in south Auckland doesn't register anywhere else.
I was reading an old thread on insecurity central (league unlimited) the other day, where you NRL defenders of the faith were trying to laugh off the RWC Final getting 800,000 live viewers in the USA........there's another thread where the 17,241 who watched the USA v Italy was ridiculed....yet another thread that held up the 3,661 attendance for the game between Canada and Georgia as a sign of the decline of Union, but ignored the attendance in Bridgened for the Wales v France test 1,464.
Why is it that fans of RL in general refuse to accept that whilst TGG is far better as a spectacle and rightly question why more people don't get into it, that Rugby Union is a far more popular sport in those countries it is played Internationally.
I'm not knocking it, because it's a lot of fun putting you straight and watching you come out with plans for world domination once you've got your billion, but I would caution you with this.......maybe you should dig the 15 clubs that are on their s financially out of their holes before expanding even further. Penrith were in a $22,000,000 hole last time it was reported...certainly puts Bradfords debt into perspective, doesn't it

NRL >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> S15
Can't wait till the West Coast Pirates enter the NRL and blow the Force out of the water, they are financially struggling now, when the NRL comes to town they are going to really know hardship.
I see you are being true to the Rugby Union statistical reporting methodology and already releasing the attendances for the 2013 RUWC. Did a billion people watch it as well?
Te game in Australia has been hampered by 15 years of underfunding and conflicted management. That is about to change. In the next few weeks the game will have the $'s to set about what it what it started in 1995. The tide is about to change for RL down under.

You're frothing at the mouth now JB.......There is no RWC in 2013.......there is a RLWC though, which will compete head to head for attendances with end of season Union tours by the All Blacks, Australia and South Africa to the British Isles.
As for the pirates...good luck with that. Will they crush the farce like the storm have outrated the rabble?
