I wasn't giving Leeds as a derby to anyone. I was merely stating that Fev would have derbies v Cas, Leeds and Wakey, so would more than likely have bigger crowds and also have bigger crowds at Cas and Wakey too.
Fax may have Leeds as a derby and Huddersfield as well but I'd be surprised if the latter fixture would generate a similar crowd to that of Fev v Cas/Wakey/Leeds.

Got to say that the "triumvirate" sounds mouth watering. I think you'll get too many people arguing against such a concentration of clubs in one smallish city though. But still, i wouldn't mind following those rivalries during the season - as a neutral observer of course

| There is always the chance that rumours of our demise have been somewhat exaggerated.
If, by some miracle it transpires they HAVE, I'll come gunning for some of you lot.

If you are going to add a new team then it should at least be looking like they will be around for a while. Only way to not have that sort of income is to not spend the full cap but then we end up with an even more less competitve league.
Of those teams you have listed London have a investor bringing them up to that income level, Bradford- well we know what happened there, Widnes, Cas, Salford, Wakefield are all weak teams on the field largely due tp teh fact they probably don;t have this level of income. Why add another team just to join that pack?'"
When you say generate upto 3million is that without director and tv income?

Professional sport is a business, same as any other business you need a positive profit and loss statement at the end of the year or you won't be in business very long.

No including. Seems to me that to be a competitive and sustainable SL club paying full salary cap you need around that amount of income. Very simplistically it seems to break into roughly three main areas of income:
1mill SL tv grant
1 mill from fans (gate takings, merchandise, lotteries etc)
1 mill from sponsorships/corporate box sales/director investment

Average 10,000 and that equates to 1.3 in Ticket revenue (Ian Lenegan reckons it's closeto a tenner a pop averaged out over the season)
The same again in residuals (merch/beer/food)
The same again in TV money...
there's the better part of 4 million already......before you put an advert on a shirt of flog a prawn sarnie in a box or take a brass farthing from a sugar daddy....
The holy grail for SL clubs should be to get to 10k averages....then build from there, but some clubs are still putting the cart before the horse.
Bradford had the right idea BTW.......they just got their forecasting wrong.....it would have taken 5 to 7 years of cheap ST's before you could start to up the price.....build the loyalty, then gradually squeeze the fans for a few extra notes.

| Be surprised if it that high when you take into account season tickets, jnr's, concessions etc. if it was that high then my team would be more than breaking even on 8000 avg crowd but we are losing around 250k a season before director investment. Our chairmen has said a crowd avg of 10k will see use break even suggesting 2000 fans equals around 250-300k profit a year.

Lots of clubs, especially London, must be dying on their backsides then.

| Without a director ploughing money they would have been gone a long long time ago. He is putting in over million pound a year .

| Bearing in mind the state of the game. If Toulouse are added to SL, that will mean 2 fixtures out of the 13 home games (plus London), where there are very few away supporters.
Now, there are so many folk on here clamouring for a reduction in the no. of teams in SL due to the "financial state of the game", how do we think a team with no travelling support will help ?
Also, although there is a novelty value in visiting France to watch SL and it is a great experience, it is unlikely that many fans will be able to afford 2 trips per season.
There is of course the potential fo increased TV cash but, what about the fans ???
We are already being taken for a ride in so many ways but, this matters not a jot.

The Hull clubs get no traveling fans anyway so won't make much of a difference.
