| Quote: Gronk! "Briscoe isn't fast enough or good enough in defence and it's been made pretty clear the last few times he's played for England. Charnley is a better player.'"
Are you basing the fact hes not fast enough on him being caught by Mannering whilst carrying an injury?
In what way is Charnley better than Briscoe. This is a genuine question because admittedly I havnt seen too much of Wigan this year but from what I have seen I am yet to be convinced that he is anything other than a glorified Ade Gardner. By that I mean a solid winger who is given bags of chances and made to look good by his team mates

No, I'm basing it on every time I see him play he gets run down by numerous opposition players.

Charnley is bigger, faster, a better defender and a good finisher - Briscoe is only a good finisher.

I actually picked Briscoe over Charnley but that is an insult to the lad. Were you watching the cup QF and SF last year? Ade Gardner would not have scored either of those! Neither would Ryan Hall!

Because Charnley is a better player perhaps?

Briscoe is so slow Ryan Hall caught him no bother Saturday chasing him down didn't he. Oh wait...
There is no doubt Briscoe is bigger than Charnley, and his ability to create a chance of his own from nothing isn't something any other English winger has.

Best team I have seen so far, although I would have another hooker instead of Sinfield, either Houghton or Mcllorum.
Briscoe and Charnley is pretty even IMO, Charley has been better this year so shoudl get the nod if the team is picked tomorrow, although Charnley has an advantage of playing for a better side.

It probably is a bit insulting tbh because Charnley is clearly a good player, but I guess what I'm getting at is that Briscoe has become an England international whilst living off scraps in a poor Hull team. Charnley on the other hand plays for the best team in the league and Wigan give their wingers plenty of chances to shine due to their quality in the middle.
If their roles had been reversed and Charnley had spent the last couple of years at Hull whilst Briscoe had come through Wigans academy would Charnley even be considered?

I've just seen both of them and fair enough, two really good finishes, good step to beat Hodgson. Gardner wouldnt have scored them, Hall might have done.
The thing is you can give me 2 examples of Charnley's individual brilliance. I could probably pick out 10 of Briscoes that are as good or better.

I'm guessing you didn't watch Hull v. Leeds last week then. He outpaced the full team and chased down BJB to dump him into touch.

I would argue that he isn't a good a finisher, and Brisc is extremely strong so size doesn't matter to him.

| The question is, can Danny Brough actually perform after June this year?
Since we're not playing Aus/NZ this year (not sure about the latter though) I would be tempted to try various combinations of players to see what works out. Of course, a year is a long time in RL, and the players we think are deserving of selection this year could be very different by the time of the World Cup.

Gardner would not have scored that! Briscoe and Charnley are the only two which would have scored that. They are both similar players but I think Briscoe edges it on D and Charnley is a stronger bigger runner of the ball.
Maybe you could pick out some that look better, but to do it in local derbies in the biggest games of the season as the deciding try... it takes some doing, especially against the kind of defence you come up against in a close cup game. He tore them to shreds.
That Briscoe try against Leeds was awesome but the defending was terrible from Ryan Hall. I am willing to give him the benefit of doubt on this occasion as I don't often see that from him, but he can't afford to be so lazy against the aussies.
