First of all I doubt that internet gambling advertising is illegal in France, and as others have said there are easy ways around it for just one club. English soccer clubs take these sponsorships and I guess they may play in France in the EuroBung League or whatever they call it when the money is good enough.

The new sponsor is Stobart.

On December 7th, the RFL bought the domain name stobartsuperleague.co.uk.



I doubt they'd have bought that domain if there was nothing substantial in it.

Stobart has the potential to be a fantastic sponsor if, for example, they can pick one player per team and incorporate their image into the livery of their trucks. Say there was 24 trucks with RL players dominating them, advertising the players and big upcoming events, and every other vehicle had at least a strap line referring to their sponsorship, that would bring in some good awareness.

Why? Don't make comments like that without justifying them. National company, well known, can't get much better advertising than hundreds of HGV's on busy motorways, plus they'll shell out the cash.

It would appear they've also registered a number of variations on the domain name (eddiestobartsuperleague.co.uk, stobartsuperleague.com, etc)

Can't see why they'd want to do this unless a deal was pretty well nailed on.

Looks like a good high profile sponsor to me, but I hope they publicise it on all their trucks and not just ones that travel along the M62.

On a cynical level does this mean Widnes can't lose there license in 3 yrs even if they are clearly the worst team? Providing Stobart are still the sponsor of both Widnes and SL in 2015!!

Terrific sponsor if true (and the domain name purchase would suggest it's correct), particularly if their fleet of lorries etc have a Super League logo on the back or side.

The alliteration also makes it sound much better compared to Elonex or Probiz imo. Not that it really matters, but it comes off the tongue easier.

I'm not sure I have heard of Elonex, I wouldn't have heard of Probiz if they hadn't got involved in RL, the vast majority of the country has heard of Stobart, it has it's own saddo fan club, probably millions see their lorries every day. Potentially a great deal. Surely it's a joke & a disgrace?
