I remember dean widders playing in our reserves, does that mean he was developed from our reserves team?

That's why I said academy not reserves. Watts has developed through the coaching of Rovers u18s, and 21s as well as a spell in the championship. How many 1st team games had he played before his rovers debut? 1 or 2 something like that?
He's classed as homegrown for Rovers I think that says it all

By the time watts got to kr he was ready for first team action, your academy hasn't developed him, playing for your first team has improved him. He left cas in 2007 and was playing in your first team in 2008.

Obviously not, seeing as though it took until 2010 for him to get a proper look in

Then its a further indictment of the rovers attitude to young english players because he was very much ready for first team and you still didn't play him, like other young english lads who you wouldnt give a chance to, such as mariano who couldn't get a game at rovers but shone for wakey last year.

If he was ready he would have played, he was ready in 2010 and only missed one game that year.

| Well done Leeds & Cas then.
Wigan and KR are a disgrace, but nothing new there.

He played 4 games then got injured. I don't blame him for taking the money at Wakefield when you've got to put a roof over your young families head.

actually not true if you are talking about home grown talent produced by the club rather than englishmen bought in from all over the league. whilst everyone will agree we have too many foreigners in the squad they have not come at the expense of our own produced players we have more locals in our squad than a number of superleague clubs with 17 hull lads in the squad this year, welham, cox, taylor, latus are already becoming or have become regulars with sheriff and others following. Surely this is the way to go in the future and what the club trained rule is all about rather than buying a team from all over the place whether that be australia or other parts of britain.
just a thought, maybe we should have a thread on number of local players in squads, I would imagine teams like warrington and hull might struggle with this one.

in the same way as you are counting, i would be very surprised if every club wasnt easily beating that level, frankly it is poor. Cox and Latus and Sheriffe have barely played, they are nowhere near first team regulars.

We're coming to make some noise!: |
|
| A basic question needed a basic answer, so why has it plummited in to a discussion about whats right and wrong with clubs...etc.
McDonnell, Webster, Green, Dobson, O'Hara, Withers, Clinton, Galea, Paea, Mika, Lovegrove.
I'd argue we could have done without McDonnell by using Sheriff or Hall at full back, our pack maybe could have survived without Paea and Mika and we did pretty well without Clinton last year so I'm sure Wheeldon could have covered there.
So sure we possibly could have done without a few of those and I'd be disapointed if we don't replace Webster with Liam Salter or Chris Heil, McDonnell with Sheriff...etc. Taylor has shown he's got the ability and a future in the front row as with Cox with a few years of development still to go could be a great front row of the future. keil Carlisle also looks promising along with Josh Hodgson.
Sandercock was brought in with the directive of improving the players coming through our own system so with so many players off contract at the end of 2012 it may be a slightly different story next year.
As said though while we're not doing anything wrong why should we be bothered about the international game, being English is not even an issue anyway!

Are Saints and Hull FC also not a disgrace? Same number of overseas players as Wigan in 2012 (seven)
