Nigel started it on B&A last week and his answers were as concise and succinct as the campaign title you refer to.

Well as long as a complex and nuanced issue is explained concisely and succinctly I guess we will be ok

| Too late now. Damage was done three years ago with that. If anythingwere seeing a scaling back. Issue now is why certain clubs are being protected indefinitely over others when they dont appear to offer anything more.

Im not sure that Fax fans will be all that happy with you including them within your 'we' but yes, if they want to guarantee themselves a franchise next time they need to have one of the best bids. Not simply hoping there are enough worse ones.'"
Yes and to be at the level of a Leeds or a Hull we would need to be operating in SL , or are you suggesting that is possible in the Championship ?

| Quote: SIMMSFAXTEDDY "we could start a 'HATE Stevo' campaign while we're at it!
in all seriousness as a fax fan i see the word 'hate' as a mistake, so soon after our decline of a franchise. however, i do believe that the supporters trust are doing this for the right reasons and not just 'sour grapes'.
Halifax ST know that the RFL aint going to change their minds, but what this campaign might do, live on sky, is get the voice out for fans below SL.
this time Fax missed out, we still havent heard why? but many on here believe its because our bid wasnt good enough, maybe that was the case. But i believe it was because the RFL saw big money Glover and rubbed their hands!
this campaign, if carried out correctly will let the world know that the RL community that choose to support it could make a difference.
the differnce that needs to be made in my opinion is new people in charge of our great sport, people that dont gamble with Rugby league's reputation and gamble on its future, expansion worked with Catalans and i aplaud that, but can any true RL fan say they think its going to catch on anywhere else??!
North east - failed
2nd french team (toulouse) - failed
paris - failed
wales - failed
london - failed (my opinion)
Lewis and Wood have tried......and now its time to let someone else with new ideas in!
give us our sport back!!!!!!!!'"
Well you would be wrong.
Andy Glover is no "big money" man.
I wouldnt mind being a couple of quid behind him,but hes certainly no Davey/Hughes/Moran/Pearson.
Maybe, just maybe,he used his business acumen to put together a strong application, that among other things included a sustainable business plan.

No he answered 5 different questions with the same answer
Maybe if the RFL had not used Fax in the way they did , actually encouraging them to make up fictitious attendances to meet critera to allow them to apply for SL , just to give the process some bizarre credibility , then we wouldn't have had the farce we ended up with
And also perhaps if they hadn't wasted tens if not hundreds of pounds paying top class accountants to tell us the blindingly obvious , we could actually expand the sport at the pro level

| Why is it a farce that a club you dont think was ready was judged not ready? it seems exactly as you would want.
and yes, of course, its the fact we actually paid somebody to do a proper job and provide us with the needed information which is the problem. Maybe if we had paid some ty accountants to tell us things which were wrong which is the problem.

| P&R is gone and good riddance imo. What I would be challenging is how they measured teams up against each other and the fairness of the judging criteria. if Halifax can factually show that their bid was better than any team that was kept in then they have a case. if not they simply do not have a leg to stand on. I think that maybe the membership model employed in Oz may be an opportunity for clubs outside SL to demonstarte support of the club. Doesn't require people to attend games but does give them an opportunity to show they are behid the club and that there is interest enough to sustain a SL team. If Fax had 7000 members then it would be a much better indication of their potential fanbase than the 2000 who turn up to watch 2nd division RL.

but do they offer anything less? That is the real question. When you look at Wakey and Fax, for example, can you honestly say Fax are likely to offer anything more than Wakey currently do now? Maybe the RFL think they will protect their "investment" (ie SL money for the last decade) in Wakefield rather than throwing it away and starting again with Fax?
Of course Fax could and i could be wrong, we saw HKR come up and maintain decent crowds and be competitive whilst improving their facilities, looks like salford may in the future with a new ground though their crowds are not SL standard and on the field they are yet to challenge for a playoff spot. I see Fax like Salford tbh.

Wont work in the UK JB. RL in the UK and Aus are worlds apart. The club and members philosophy is long standing and engrained in Aussie sporting culture. These memberships often have other benefits and are linked to a leagues club, something they dont have in the UK.
In the UK people follow teams that have success and aspire to be at the top of the game. Only hardcore members generally join membership schemes which without any obvious deliverables dont appeal to the thousands you are looking to draw to the club. When the door is slammed firmly in your face such appealing deliverables become out of reach making it next to impossible to to spread the appeal of the club in the numbers you are talking about.

I hear they've delayed it until the next batch of super strength rose coloured spectacles arrives....
Oh and I do love your use of the word knee-jerk, such delicious irony eh? The RFL would never make up policy on the spot would they?

Maybe they should have sought their advice before chucking £700k down the crapper.

As for the ealier poll for and against P&R, try asking a broad spectrum and not just a forum dominated by those who benefit directly from one option. This is about the game as a whole, SL fans seem to think they are the game.'"
Which ones? Not sure which ones you're referring to. Anyway, just because other sports manage it doesn't mean we can. It would be very hard to say to a Championship club in September:-
"Right, well done, GF win - up to SuperLeague you go, could you now please:-
- make all the existing players you want to keep full time
- sign lots of new players and coaches
- hire full time staff to deal with all the additional stuff that comes with running a full time sports team
Oh, and whilst you're at it, just so you know, if you're crap next year, and you get relegated, you're probably going to want to have to reverse ALL of the above. BUT, if you get promoted the year after that - do it all again. Cheers!".
To be honest, I think the system we have now probably doesn't give people enough time - the time frame widnes are working to is probably just about right.
Promotion and relgation in its purest form is my preferred choice. However that is only if you have a sport which can sustain it. We don't. I'm sorry, we don't. Whether the RFL should have selected Halifax or not is another matter but we simply don't have a sport that can sustain normal promotion and relegation.
