WHilst your argument about 1st worlders not wanting to go there seem valid, I've heard of people going there to work (an architecht, in my case). The PNG would have to look after the players, possibley with a secure living zone, which doesn't sound too appealing.. .. ..

People want to play in the NRL - Maybe they would be able to atract some decent british talent who may struggle for a chance at one of the other australian clubs? There must be guys at NRL clubs that find themselves disgarded at 20 who want a second chance?

It may not be a recepie for a premiership winning team, but certainly they could get a side that could play [ia bit[/i, whilst the local talent is groomed.

Put it this way, players who do move there are earning the same money but cost of living is only a fraction of what it is in Aus. To me it's not that different to guys in there 20's who go out in the middle of nowhere in WA to work in the mines for a few years, make big money and barely spend any. And there must be a little expat bubble there in port moresby too. AND, they're back in Aus minimum every second weekend. ^ offside monkey makes a good point too, fringe first grade players would make much bigger sacrifices to play NRL than move to PNG. 50% is the unemployment rate accepted for port Moresby ....that's because they aren't the demographic the TV Advertisers want. I have seen pre-season tours though.......do many NRL teams do pre-season on PNG

Put simply, an NRL Bid document can cost upwards of $100,000 to produce......that money would be better spent by being given to unicef. I repeat...$850 a year is the average income of a PNGian.........

Look...you are so obviously passionate about this subject, but rather than saying "I Know nothing about it" or that "I am full of shi7", why not accept that the PNG bid, now or in 10 or even 25 years years time, is fraught with danger and potential for complete failure. Get them to sort out all the problems first............an NRL team is not the answer.

the only real issue seems to be one of timing regarding there entry in the nrl

they are zero chance next time around....

but by the next TV deal they can be an excellent chance and indeed a front runner if all the promises made are fullfilled

the benefits to int. RL would be fantastic as would the passion of the PNG people for the game

its up to the bid team and their government to put all the pieces together into a compelling bid
