Did they ? , or did the developer pay all/some of that cost ?

| This is a good summary for those trying to work out if it's a good deal:
Quote: sally cinnamon "Its not that the Sky TV deal will influence the cost of living, its that you have to factor in rising costs when judging how big the increase is, because the TV money which goes to clubs will have to go on paying salaries, covering other costs which are rising.
The new deal is £90m over 5 years which is £18m a year. The last deal struck in 2008 was £50m over 3 years which is £16.667m a year. So compared to that deal we have had an 8% rise in nominal terms.
In those three years you've had annual inflation around 2.2% in 2009, 3.2% in 2010 and currently annual inflation of around 4.3% in 2011 so far.
So in real terms, in order to match the terms of the deal struck in 2008 on £16.667m a year, you would have to get a deal worth
16.667(1.022)(1.032)(1.043)
Also, add to the above, this deal is for SL only. There are other TV packages also being negotiated.

Cas have funded everything from start to finish. Makes it even more remarkable should the stadium be built.

Other than the £1m Waystone have already spent on levelling and preparing the site of course! To be fair, they were always going to have to spend that money to get anything on the site... but equally they are also giving you/long term leasing you the land for free are they not?

| The RFL do need to look at online options. There are plenty brits in Oz and other places who may not be able to watch on TV so there could be a market for online streaming. However this would need massive work. Numerous camera's at each game and real HQ streaming. Maybe not HD but def HQ.
I can pay to watch the NRL online, NBA, NFL etc etc so Superleague really needs to catch up!!

Waystone would be flattening that site for the ancillary facilities, hotel etc anyway so the cost is not really applicable in a sense.
Waystone have signed an agreement with us that guarantees the site for the stadium and stadium only.

| Not meaning to put a dampner on things
This is not an official announcement
That 90 million could be an incorect figure and could have more to it that meets the eye
But if its true its great
I would hope that there is more Money to come in from it than that
Joint sky/terrestial Internations
If the RFL can bring in a good. I think its not been added to the SL agreement this time becasue I feel the BBC is more intrested in these games than the Challenge Cup and are actualy challenging sky for them which is great as it will get its own recognition. I think a stubling block would be the World Cup and I would hope the agreement reached will exclude the world cup and that can be a stand alone TV rights grabber this time next year or early 2013.
Challenge Cup (Given the and age) I think it would be good if this was joint by a Terrestial broadcaster and SKy like cups in football. Give the Terrestial 2 games each weekend / and sky 1 and let sky do a game from round 1 & 2 also. Give em a semi each and both do the final. I think that could really raise the profile of the Cup. Obviously with the rights spilt I think BBC would pay less but If skys input could bump it up to what it is now that is a deffinate improvement as I see no way the BBC paying the RFL what they are paying them now.
I say Terrestial because the BBC have been poor in my opionion recently only Robbie Paul and Clare Balding giving it a possitive image Id personaly like To see Chanel 4 get it but i know its unlikely
The Sky Championship coverage is great in my opionion and it would be a shame to lose it. Its my understanding that there is no contract that gives the RFL X amount of money and is split but a small fee is given to the sides that play in each weeks games. £5,000 for home teams isnt it as I remember Hunslet having to give most of it to Leeds council as they had to shut the leisure centre on the Thursday night they player sheffield or York i think.
So that at least maintained that would be good but if they could get a deal for X amount spilt evenly between the Championship clubs primarily even if its just a small fee. 10 million like someone said is just living in a dream world. What would also be good is getting a Highlights programme on a free view channel late at night itv 4 or something even if no money came in from it im sure it would be good for the profile
Many People seem to have forgotten the Northern Rail cup. After all its the second biggest Cup comp in actauly what I would say World Domestic Rugby League so I think It needs its own recognition as opposed to tieing it in with the Championship banner

SKY don't pay anything fir the Championship coverage , the £ 5,000 is from the Co oP sponsorship "

They want their money back then!
The site is neither level, nor prepared!!
The only thing you could build on the site right now is a via ferratta!

| So unless I am reading it wrong this is a net position that is flat when inflation etc. is taken into account?
Sounds good then in light of some of the cuts other sports have endured, as mentioned in this thread.
We need to keep turning up, making noise and showing the armchair viewer we have something worth watching.
I can't be the only Southerner to convert from Soccer.

| None of my family are from further north than Nottingham... it was going to Perpignan whilst on holiday and seeing the fans having such a good time that drew us in.
