Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied

Seems like providing sufficient funding to get all championship clubs set up with a decent community dept is a good thing, no?
The only way we will get viable additional clubs into a league that (even before any planned expansion) will potentially include trips to Workington, Whitehaven, London & Gateshead is to make funding for travel available. So that seems a good plan. I speculate that if Toulouse were to revert to the LER next year, that could free up quite a bit of travel money for some amateur clubs to step up in 2012.
Main downside is that for teams on the fringe of the two comps - maybe Whitehaven or Dewsbury, for example, there's a big difference between playing mostly northern teams in front of 1000-3000 fans and playing in a league where 500 is a good crowd, with a lot more travelling. And maybe Oldham dominating championship 1 for years without being allowed up due to unsuitable ground.

| I think some of us are forgetting that this is just a 'Consultation Document' so it's highly unlikely any specific details will be given at this stage - let's just wait and see what spans out instead of making meaningless assumptions etc  |

The logic of it is we will reward innovation and are being flexible about it.
So you run a couple of kids teams, you provide training in schools, you encourage new people into the sport, you strengthen ties with SL clubs, you develop links with amateur teams, you riase money, you become self financing, you increase your crowd. All the things that SL clubs have to do for a Franchise you encourage in NL1 and dont be too prescriptive about it. |

Not really. People try to intimidate other fans with sarcy comments on these boards all the time, it was just pretty unclear so it didn't really have the desired effect.
