| Quote: number 6 "suprised nobody has mentioned the ground share with barnsley fc as an option, if this gets the go ahead wakey should be fine, after all its fine for saints to move in with widnes so why cant wakey do the same until their ground gets the nod. think its cas who could have squeaky bum time if wakey do groundshare'"
er....Saints have planning permission, funding and blokes on site with hard hats......they will have a nice new stadium to move into when their new 3 year licence is awarded......
Wakefield have nothing..........and after making and breaking assurances regarding their stadium last time, will not be treated as lieniently this time around.
I still say that Castleford and Wakefield should have built a joint/shared stadium between them...50/50 down the middle with no senior partner....the RFL would have had a hell of a job ejecting one without the other.....but as it is, one of them is likely to go next summer...and blueprints and plans will count for nothing

Great Innit
I still say that nobody is bolted on to be ejected yet.....there are still a few candidates who should be worried including Quins RL.

Difference being Saints made these plans clear to the RFL quite early, Wakey it's only been mouted and said will discuss it now. Saints have maintained a top 2 side throughout and continue to bring through regular youth into the first team whilst getting strong crowds. Saints ground is currently one negative in a pretty impressive bid, Newmarket was sounding like the entire strong point of Wakefields bid. They'd find it pretty hard to act like they meant to move to Barnsley all along!

Never said it was, the poster said we should share and I'm just pointing out the fact that we offered to.

Why does this not surprise me
If Wakey do go...then they will only have themselves to blame

I think Cas will be looked at favourably for that too. They showed some realism and initiative and were happy to do what was best, Wakey made a undiscussed bold rejection out in the open only for a few months later for it to massively backfire. Why I am also glad the council still backed Cas as they offered to at least sit down and talk. Even if Wakefield didn't want a ground share the least they could of done was to talk about it, effectively Newmarket wasn't even there project so why have to jump straight out and reject share (unless told to by Yorkcourt)?

IMO......Wakey would take a great hit attendance wise playing at GH........therefore i think would not be viable for the club.......

I work there every day and live very close. A groundshare wouldn't work because quite simply you wouldn't get the fans over to Oakwell every 2 weeks, crowds would drop dramatically.'"
interesting to see castlefords average attendance last season, im sure there was a few games where only 5-6 thousand attended, 10 miles his hardly a day trip now is it? think you are just hoping a praying for that!

| If I remember correctly Cas were open to a feasibility study in terms of a ground-share, which would suggest which development was most likely to be successfully completed and viable for ground-share. Cas agreed. Wakefield rejected the idea totally.

Our biggest games last year were on sky - Hull KR, Hull FC, Leeds, Warrington which took a big hit on our attendence but I can assure you the town of Castleford bleeds RL and if you don't believe that then, quite simply, you're an idiot.

In public at HT in the Catalan Dragons game (I think) the Wakefield board came out and said "They were going at it alone" to the huge cheers of the WTW fans.
