A lot of this, to me, is supposition or people on a hope and pray it's right thought train.
Anyway I would STILL rather have the Crusaders in SL because they bring something to the game rather than the former bankrupt club of Widnes who bring NOTHING new!!'"
On the HMrC site muppet! No Widnes bring nothing new just home grown players, paying crowds and actually put money INTO RL rather than just taking it out!

| I think he meant about Nobby being paid by the RFL. Home grown players J20? Time will tell eh. Curious as to why SOC would waste money sending Cullen to Australia now when the decision is only going to be made in 5 months time, after all you haven't been told you are in yet...have you

| Quote: Slugger McBatt "It does sound like Crusaders problems run a lot deeper than Wakey's did, who were used as a test case to resolve the image rights issue. They will be coming after a lot more clubs now, but the Crusaders sound like the taxman might be the least of their worries.'"
Really! So why have HMRC and the RFL agreed that Leeds be used as a test case? That case is still on going. It is ongoing with respect to calculating the amount and the period of repayment. This case is also within the context of other sporting clubs, particularly football.
While there is little argument that wakey have showed a strong preference for overseas players -and still appear to do so - they have been journeymen rather than the elite players who tend to have image rights deals. For example players like Winterstein and Leanno would not be prime candidates for such payments. Though someone like Tronc may possibly expect payments to such accounts.

Easy reply when you haven't got anything back to say. On other issues clearly no proof but pre season starts for most around now yet Cru made no announcemnets on coaching set up changes definate and also why would a paper make up people not being paid unless they had a link from somewhere.

| Of course J20. You have to admit this is the worst kept secret since Celtic Crusaders for SL.

Potentially... Just read that Ray French has met with Cullen in Auis and he's in good spirits and doing a good bit of ground work for our potential SL return, which is great and the best way to use the off season. Plus PC could certainly use the break!

While they probably had a source for the rumour you should not automatically believe everything a paper publishes. They exist to maximise their distribution figures, so there is a tendency to publish "scandals" even when they can't fully authenticate the facts.

I do agree with that entirely but usually for something so direct their is smoke... though that could just be the HMRC hearing and putting two & two together. However with Crusaders in the past most of the paper nonsense has become a reality unfortunately for them.

Your very wordy today J20, for example there was no need to use the word potential
Back on topic, if Crusaders don't sort out this winding up petition, they will likely take the football club down with them too

| Why?
Does not follow at all.
What is more worrying is today's rlreportrl that pension contributions - going back a fair way -have seemingly not been paid over. If that should prove to be true, you are talking serious criminal offences here.

AFAIK, The RFL’s advice to the clubs regarding back payment of image rights was to hold fire until Leeds challenge against HMRC, funded by the RFL, in limiting the percentage owed in back payments was resolved.
Unfortunately the case officer for Wakefield’s wasn’t willing to wait until the issued had been collectively resolved and wanted the tax liabilities from Trinity.

Why doesn't it follow? Both the Rugby and Football come under the same company don't they?
