| Quote: belgianxiii "It's all very much speculation atm. Wrexam? Newport? Bridgend? Samuels? Shall wait and see if Samuels pulls out and if any of the above are interested. If anything this suggests that we could se a club in Wrexam and another in Newport (yes, in about 50 years time).
Atm it looks like Crusaders are looking at spending one year away from Brewery field and play some games in Wrexam, doesn't sound bad. The year after back to Brewery Field, still not a bad idea.
Premanent move to Newport with support from the Union side? Not a bad idea long term. Premanent move to Wrexam? Less appealing, but still potential of a good sporting symbiotic relationship.'" Rational thought is not welcome on this thread?

| Have Quins not already proven that bouncing from one place to another gives little chance to build a firm fanbase and links with the local community?

| The firty Quinz have shown this. They have also shown that they can still survive in SL despite this, more's the pity.

Ok.
If you think bouncing around from town to town, not building up strong support from a particular community, and relying on rich men to cover the massive shortfall is "survival" then fair enough, lets make it a blueprint for success and see how long it lasts.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

I have no idea if this is at all accurate but if it is

| I think that was a couple of years ago when they had some proper problems Starbug. For example theres a couple of figures there which i know for a fact arent right for the last 12 months, think they could be about 3 years ago

Fair do's , but if those figures were a couple of years back , I dont really see how they could have turned that much round since then
Ultimatly we need to somehow get all the clubs in both SL and the Championships self sustaining without major input from BOD's or single ' sugar daddy ' type owners , their money should be spent on improving stadia/junior development/marketing and building up their clubs and the sport

People sometimes forget how big london is, how would you like to have your home ground in oldham one year then southport the next.
seems extreme but that is roughly the same distance as it is east to west in london.
Your not going to grow if you keep moving.
i think maybe a better long term plan is have two london teams rename them
East London Skolars
West London Quins
possibly have
North Wales Dragons
South Wales Crusaders
rivalries help with support
obviously build up all the amateur set ups first

| I notice the expansion loonies have been exceptionally quiet on this.. Where are all those who insisted 'that bringing SL to Wales would see crowds flocking' and that it was 'now or never for SL in Wales'?
Perhaps all those "flat cap flat earth morons" weren't so moronic in their opinion that it was too soon for Crusaders to be put into Super League after all....
All that hard work done by those developing the game at grass roots level in Wales not to mention their exceptional performance in the Euro Nations tournament is being completely overshadowed by this ongoing farce.
A strong presence in the Championship (as they did have) would have been far more beneficial than this situation.
I await the abuse from those that can't past the fact that I support Widnes and am therefore a 'bitter flat cap Widnes fan'.

| Isn't it the reality that North Wales already has a club? Widnes is about 30 mins from Wrexham so clearly its the Vikings catchment area?
Im very happy for The Crusaders and im delighted at all the good stuff going on in Wales. But they really should stay in South Wales

Perhaps many "expansion loonies" don't rush to quick judgements after one season when it's clear that development in a new area can take a couple of decades work. Maybe those "expansion loonies" should stop taking such a long-term view on growing the game and sort everything in an instant.

An absolute disgrace and an embarrassment to the game.'" I was ridiculed here for saying that Celtic were not quite ready for SL and that they were doing fine as they were,in the lower leagues.I was of the opinion that they ought to have continued their good work and build more support, become more established whilst aiming for a SL licence in 2012.If,however,for some unfortunate reason they wouldn't be around in 2011/2012 then not much harm done.If the club wasn't strong enough to go three years in between licence applications then they probably wouldn't have survived in SL either.I,along with others, said this, not through self interest or flat cappery but because we thought it was blatantly obvious the right way to go.Now or never was always a pss poor argument.

But that is not how the SL licensing process works. After next season clubs will need to submit a bid for the next round of licenses to in SL play from 2012. Crusaders don't have "decades" they have a little over a year.
Perhaps your frustration would be better directed towards the RFL who created the whole process, which demands "sort(ing) everything in an instant".

Yes you are right, expansion in a new area can take decades to work, so why the insistence of putting a team in Super League after it has only been in existence for 3 years?? The game at grass roots level would have continued to grow whatever division they were in.
Those same expansion loonies insisted that it was now or never for Crusaders in SL. That's hardly a "long term view on growing the game" now is it.
Nobody is "rushing to make judgements", the facts are plain to see. Only those with their heads buried in the sand will deny that the Crusaders are in a complete mess, regardless of whether this is their first season or not. They have gone backwards at an alarming rate over the past 12 months.
