| Quote: Call Me God "Seen on another site that ticket sales for the Denver Clash are about 5,000 and apparently the planned warm up game of Canada v USA has been shelved due to the promoter being unwilling to pay for flights.
75,000 seater stadium with 5,000 fans isn't going to be a good look.....less than 8 weeks until the game is played and the promoter is "cutting costs"......does this bode well for the RLWC in 2025?
rlhttps://www.mooresportsintl.com/news/rl...nothing on that site is making me feel any more confident.

For someone who claims to be the CEO and President of Moore sports International, there is very little public information on him.....or his company or anything they have done since bringing a baseball match to sydney 4 years ago.'"
Doesn’t do all teams in the NRL who play in the ANZ any harm.

Indeed it doesn't.......but they have multi billion dollar TV deal and an audience of 3,200,000 paying customers who over the season average 15k... and tune in to watch in many millions as well as 3 games a year that stop the country.......meanwhile, we've given the pinnacle of our international game to a guy who in his first foray into the US market, has failed miserably IMHO and this isn't a good start to anyone who thinks that RLWC 25 USA is going to be anything other than an abject failure.
NYC/Toronto/Boston etc......awarding them the RLWC before most of them have proven to be anything other than an idea with a rich backer but little else is insanity...the 2017 competition took us backwards with 3k fewer fans per game averaged....we have a stated target of 30k in 3 years time.....and then after that, do we expect a sport that is UNKNOWN IN THE CONTINENT to fill stadiums?
5k in Denver is the death knell for the RLWC 25

| Perhaps the NRL constantly trying to block the game has put enough people off travelling to make it respectable.
It was never gonna sell 75k. That wasn't the goal. But I'd have thought they could reach at least 30k with the way they were promoting it. Still time yet, but a big challenge. Nothing lost though.

| Not looking good is it? The 2000 RLWC was a shambles re attendances and then wasn't staged again until 2008. Will the average attendance be any better than 8,500 in the US and Canada?

| What attendance figure are they aiming for?
Ticket prices are considerably more than UK tests which seems odd given the stadiums large capacity.

| In fairness I think you'd struggle to find anything other than a massive stadium in the US. The attendances at the recent world cup were a bit hit and miss, many more than 5k at England v Lebanon?

I heard that they considered 40,000 as a part figure. Which was always ludicrously high given the sport has no base in America. And the people very little knowledge of the sport.
Should have played it at the soccer stadium which has a capacity of about 20,000. This is a great example of trying to run before you can walk.
Everything about this has been a shambles.

Ooooo we love a freebie in the RL family
Seriously though, who's decision was it to take the game over there and what were they expecting ?
Is this Perez over hyping the game or Big Nige biting off more than the can chew

As I posted a while back, it took soccer eons and billions of dollars to get a foothold over there and when it did, it was mainly because of the Hispanic population. Union has tried and thus far had lower than average results, but their most recent attempt at establishing a comp also failed abjectly, but they do have a sport that is played in colleges......something we don't.
Building from the top down doesn't work and I suspect money and patience will run out pretty quickly unless a US TV firm picks up the rights and pushes hard.....and if and when we get a team in NTC, we really need someone better than a PE teacher from Huddersfield at the helm!

most of the soccer stadiums in the MLS are now 20-30k purpose built rectangular stadiums. RU have used the 25k Red Bull Arena in New York.
