The hotel blurb says:
"[iThe hotel is 1 km from Matabiau SNCF railway station,[/i"
Well I can tell you from much personal experience that the Toulouse Ibis I recommended -- Toulouse Centre Gare -- is right opposite (100 metres) from the Matabiau SNCF railway station and the metro. Of course the Ibis is more expensive, but you pay for the convenience.

| Quote wrencat1873="wrencat1873"A few of us are going to Toulouse later this season and i'm trying to find the best area of the city to book a hotel.
Something central seems best but for those that have been there in the past, it would be great to get some ideas.
I could PM Jean but, then again...............'"
Went in 98 with England for the football, can't remember much to be honest but there's a big square in the centre with plenty of bars. Seem to recall quite a few RU bars, nice City though.

That's nearer to De Danu rather than the Melting Pot, although still not particularly far.
If you're visiting for a few days at a nice time of year then I'd recommend the Novotel Compans Caffarelli which is about a 25 minute walk from the Melting Pot, is a very nice, modern hotel set within Japanese gardens and even has an outdoor swimming pool.
If you want cheap and cheerful then I'd recommend Toulouse Ibis Centre which is at the side of Jean d'Arc bus station which is served by buses from the airport and is also where you need to catch the bus to Blagnac for going to the stadium. 5 minutes walk from the Melting Pot.
(As you may have guessed, the Melting Pot is the centre of the rugby league universe in Toulouse and has a ton of scarves and flags from UK RL clubs all over the ceiling and walls)

We stayed at the Novotel Compans Caffarelli which was excellent. Easy for transport to/from the airport and also to the ground. Set in a park just of the main drag with a couple of pubs on. There is an English guy who gets in the Metling pot who acts as an unofficial liaison officer. The Broncos also stayed here.

| It's a fair distance from the city centre. Possibly 30 mins on the bus which goes from near the Melting Pot (bus station close by). The ground is in an outlying quiet village.
At the ground you have to buy tokens to purchase anything including beer etc!

The 'outlying quiet village' of Blagnac has a population of 24000 which incorporates Toulouse Airport into it's village atmosphere .....

| The ground must be located in a quiet corner of this bustling metropolis. I didn't see a soul where we got of the empty bus until I got to the ground. This being a Sat afternoon!
Build it up all you will.

| Not building anything up, just saying a town of 24K people isn't a 'village', not down here anyway - Is Normanton considered a village ?

Normanton is "no mans land", it's only there to keep Castleford and Wakefield apart. Mind you, you see a lot more "orange" in Normanton these days.
So, the ground is easy to get to and from by bus from the centre of Toulouse ?

| Yeah, went to Normanton a few months back - it was closed...
Yeah, the ground is easy enough to get to by either tube and bus or just bus depending on where you are.
Hopefully it will be ten times easier in 2019 when the regular ground is ready. That's either a good walk or a few stops down the line on the tube.
