Maybe the part timers should withdraw from the cup in future if the prospect of playing full time opponents is that unappealing.

So, what is the solution ?

Keep the game as it is and watch it wither & die or, try and expand and if so, how ?
It would be helpful if there was a strategy from the RFL and with Toronto & Toulouse looking like they will be challenging for SL in the relatively near future, there looks like there may have to be a return to a "franchise" based system.
The change to the current structure looks a bit short sighted now and it was only implemented 2 seasons ago

Get stuffed you fool. Every club should spend anything they like within the the SC, If they can prove they have the finances to do so,It then becomes an even field for all clubs.

Im sure there are reasons why they put this kind of squad together but for the life of me i cant think of them,probably wasted a million pound.

Only in rugby league would people feel anger and bitterness towards someone for putting together the best team they can in order to try and win the league. "It's not fair, they should've been made to sign worse players wah wah wah".

No, what we have is teams that have had 100+ years to get their act together being shown up and humiliated by an organization that has existed for less than a year. Doncaster is not a small place, they have a great stadium, plenty of 'tradition' for the people that like that yet they were utterly destroyed by complete novices. Who does the blame fall on for that, because IMO it's certainly not Toronto or the RFL.

complete novices? are the players on the pitch complete novices though? no, they are all very experienced, pretty good rugby league players who have been put together by someone who has a lot of money to pay them, it's the quality of the players they have for the league they are in which seems unfair not the people running the club.

It is a difficult situation , do we shove every person wanting a SL place in there , or do we make the ' prove themselves ' 1 st

Unlike any other sport we are desperate to expand , this makes us do things that carry risk , the current risk is that we mess up the lower tiers for a couple of years

The opposite risk is we risk damaging 1 current SL club by dropping them for a potential expansion project , and upsetting 2 nd tier clubs

There is no easy answer , there is no scenario where we don't damage part of the sport

At a guess it's probably due to the fact they don't seem to have a shed load of money to throw at those players to get them to drop down to League 1 level.

Why don't they? They have had 66 years. Toronto have had less than one. Why could they achieve so easily in one year what Doncaster have been unable to do in 66?
