Australia full-back Billy Slater was detained but released without charge by police in Manchester following a nightclub incident in the early hours of Monday morning, team management confirm.
The Australian management are satisfied that Slater was the victim of the incident, which comes as the team prepare to begin their preparations for Saturday's quarter-final against USA in Wrexham.
Going off that you would assume the night out was sanctioned unlike in Hock's case. |

Well the police have finished dealing with it. Released without charge apparently, after acting in self defence. I wonder how stupid the attacker feels deciding to jump a smaller guy and finding out he's a pro rugby player  |

To be fair to his attacker, Slater has a very punchable face I think.

He has been released without charge and has no case to answer, either from the police or Australia.
He tried to split up a fight and then got a slap and acted in self-defence.

Personally if I was an Aussie supporter, I wouldn't be over the moon to learn players are out to the early hours drinking. However if there is no drinking ban, no curfew and no charge, its story over. I'm taking it from this thread that the first two surprising (for me anyway) facts are correct.
