thing clubs have to realise is it isn't just $40k. It is $40k plus whatever Monday night is worth in the TV deal. If they want max $'s in their NRL grant then they have to live with the fact that 3-4 times a year they are going to have to play a Monday night in front of lower crowds.

yeh because a TV company is going to pay more money for a slot that doesn't rate as well! Monday night Football is a ratings bonanza. The key issue is getting whats its worth, not binning it.

What other stuff is on pay television - here if you don't pay you get little top quality sport - unless you want to watch cycling.
