| I think Chris Evans is a Wire fan. Scholes and Giggs from Man Utd are Wigan fans.
My Dad says that Bobby Charlton used to watch Leigh in the 70's and 80's.

I saw both at the ground and they were not wearing club colours...attending the Grand Final on the day Wigan won the Championship, at the ground which is there place of work, hardly means they are 'Wigan fans'.
Giggs has done interviews on how much he enjoys rugby league, the fact his dad played for Swinton and the fact that he played as a kid for Langworthy was reputedly being looked at to play representative rugby. I don't ever recall him saying he was a fan of any club although he talks of following Swinton home and away as a kid in various interviews - more a case of him choosing football at 13/14 and losing regular interest.
It's the sfact that many prominent people might reference some liking of a rugby league side at some point but it doesnt make them fans...anyone seen Andrew Marr at Widness for example? I stumbled on a piece in the Telegraph a few years ago when he spoke of prefering rugby league to football and his in-laws love of Widnes. Doubt he's given it a second thought since!

Bobby Charlton mentions in his autobiography that he used to spend many a Friday night down at the Willows watching Salford whilst he was playing for Man Utd.

Evans did say on the radio the other day that his first ever celebrity autograph was at Wilderspool as a kid, first time I've ever heard him mention Wire.

Said father-in-law being a genuine RL fan and someone who achieved more than anyone else on this thread - president of Cambridge University Union Society, MP in the 1960s, government minister in the 1970s, life peer and lifelong campaigner for the disabled, Jack Ashley.

Not that amazing really, no one said he was in the same place at the same time. Also there is a way to watch two teams at once.

rubbish! he did a feature on lower level sport and the difficulties clubs face. He went to Keighley for it. Otherwise known as his job and not being a fan.
Edit: found the feature. I guess you can say he was a follower....but 40yrs between watching games. www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/ ... =12&page=2
