| A few years ago, on the final whistle of the Wakey v Cas relegation decider (arguably the original MPG that fuelled SKY's interest in creating a MPG every year), a large number of Wakey fans invaded the pitch and started taunting the losing Cas fans who were gathered at one end of the ground. To their credit, the Cas fans largely did not react (I don't like giving credit to Cas fans because my wife and kids were once subject of violence at a Cas away game; on another occasion I was spat on by them when raising money for a charitable cause; but on this occasion they acted with class and dignity which cannot be ignored!).
However, some 10 mins or so before the end of the game, the stewards gathered at the Cas end of the stadium; within a few minutes of the pitch invasion, the stewards had been joined by a large number of police officers and had formed a line across the width of the pitch in front of the Cas end. They then walked forward in a line and 'pushed' (largely not physically) the Wakey fans back beyond the half-way line. Situation defused.
I suppose the point I am making is that, in such a highly charged game with so much at stake, it had been foreseen that there may be problems and a contingency plan had been drawn up to deal with them. The stewards/police at HKR did not seem to have a co-ordinated plan and approach; hence the problems.

Do rovers have a suspended fine from the last time it happened?

Cas fans also showed great restraint after the 2014 cup semi final when goaded by widnes "supporters" and were roundly applauded by all involved.

| Quote: wrencat1873 "Agree with other posters that this wasn't as bad at the Widnes/Cas game a couple of seasons ago but, the stewarding was useless and a proper line of stewards across the Salford end would probably have prevented the sort of scenes that happened after the game.
The point remains though, that this fixture, with everything on line, will always have the potential to cause this kind of reaction and there will be a repeat in years to come.'"
I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion yesterdays actions were not as bad as the Widnes v Cas game?
Being a Widnes fan I was at the game and, although our collection of numpties went onto the pitch, there was no outbreaks of prolonged violence (mailny due to the restraint of the Cas fans who let our pricks get on with it), just a stupid bit of trying to confront the opposition fans.
Looking at yesterday clips, there fans fighting with their own fans, people being kicked when already down on the floor and the Women's World Windmilling Champion having more hits than Westlife.
Of course it was worse.
As has been said, with the outcome of the game being so massive, it was always a possibility no matter who won, especially with the game being so close. It definitely needs reviewing for next year.

This was my thought too. As it was signed from "Big Nige" I didn't think it would be the RFL's doing.
IF Salford have deliberately made a cheque to show off I'm the event of a win, it's extremely poor form and disrespectful.

My guess is it's aimed more at winding up the RFL than to goad the opposition. The points deduction this year (and the previous one for the extra player on the pitch) has obviously been a sore point for a lot of Salford fans.

| Let's be honest most of us were predicting there would be trouble. I don't think the use of the golden point helped the situation as stewards weren't ready as they are with extra time games.

Definitely. I couldn't make it to the game unfortunately as I had to be somewhere else but I messaged my mate on Friday predicting there'd be trouble regardless of the result. It should have been one of the first things on people's minds when planning the stewarding/policing arrangements for the game.

TBF, there is no way of knowing who the attacker side was either (and really it doesn't matter), I just assumed as he seemed to previously have been walking with another lad who was wearing Hull KR colours.
Either way, the guy in the below pictures needs identifying. Although that might have already happened as it looks like he got arrested.
'"
The guy on the floor is a Salford fan. I recognise him from games. You can also see a guy in a KR shirt who throws him to the ground.

Maybe the intention, but anyone with half a brain would realise it would be disrespectful to Hull KR.

Although you are probably right, the trouble had started long before Koucash brought his "cheque" onto the pitch and it had nothing to do with the pitch invasion from the Salford fans.
Bad taste yes but, not the cause, nor the reason for the trouble.

| My observations (FWIW):
The Salford fans were given 2 blocks of a stand, the rest of which was (partially) occupied by home fans. This meant some Salford fans (myself included) having to sit in the next block along as my ticketed seat was occupied. The rest of the Salford fans were at the opposite end of the ground. If Salford had been given another block (or two) in that stand they would have been easier to steward. As it was, some stewards were at the opposite end of the ground, and there were nowhere near enough at either end. At the final whistle fans are entering the pitch from both ends of the ground, making it harder to prevent. How are tickets allocated when larger travelling support attend?
At the end of 80 minutes there were (I would guess) a couple of hundred fans in front of the Colin Hutton stand, next to the dead ball line, the full width of the pitch, ie from both sets of supporters. If Rovers had won, rest assured their fans were about to invade the pitch and the outcome would have been similar. Why the game was restarted before these fans were told to get back in their seats is beyond me - it was clear what was coming at the end regardless of who actually won.
The Salford fans shouldn't have entered the playing area, but when they did it was to celebrate their victory. What reason would any Hull KR fan have to go on to the pitch, unless it was to confront the celebrating fans? They can say they were 'goaded', but from what I saw (and the videos knocking about back up) they came to the Salford fans before they had even had a chance to get anywhere near the East stand to 'goad', often picking off fans and knocking them to the ground from behind before disappearing back towards the stands.

We are no longer a SL side but, you are clearly still a w@nker. Some things never change.

Silly Koucash....there was no need for that whatsoever.
