| great game, great advertisement for the game, best team won,
gutted burrow had to go off, would have been a better spectacle had leeds been able to keep him on the field.
Manly were great at times, fortunately for Leeds, only 2 teams in SL can do what Manly did tonight, and we are one of them
i am getting more and more depressed about the quality of refereeing in RL, one of the strangest performances from a ref i have seen for a while, i didnt think there needed to be 25 or so penalties in the game, his policing of the ptb seemed to be completely arbitrary, letting clear penalties go and punishing nothing things for both sides, performances like this wind players up and lead to the dissent and petulance we saw from both sides, a good ref doesnt punish these things, he doesnt let them escalate to that point, thats four times in 2 games this guys has let games escalate into a bit of nonsense
think this game proves one thing, More emphasis needs to be put on the WCC, it can and is a wonderful advert for the game, but it could be so much bigger and so much better, in a playoff game, a GF a CC semi or Final and Rob Burrow comes back on, and we have a better game on our hands, the fact he stayed off and leeds would rather play a sub down than risk him shows how the wcc is thought of, we need to give it the priority it deserves, 3 matches in the SL season is a rubbish time to hold it, straight after the GF or a week before a parallel start to both seasons as a stand alone game is clearly a much better time to hold it, needs to be a nuetral ground too
great game though, Watmough had a stormer

I agree. It needs to be held two weeks after the GF, to give both teams the chance to celebrate for a few days, recover from cuts and bruises, and then get reprogrammed psychologically. It should be held on a Saturday night, a week before the start of the World Cup or Four Nations.
Unfortunately Nigel Wood, who has chosen the tiniest grounds for this years Four Nations, would not choose a big enough ground. He is a pathological risk avoider. This match, if held at the end of each nation's season, when interest is still at a crescendo, deserves a Wembley or an ANZ Stadium in Sydney. Lewis would have to push for that if it is to happen.

1230.gif “You are playing a game of football this afternoon but more than that you are playing for England, and more even than that, you are playing for right versus wrong. You will win because you have to win. Don’t forget that message from home. England expects every one of you to do his duty.”:1230.gif |

Why did an aussie ref come over?
The aussie refs have all been training to referee in pairs, and its "so different" that Ashley klein who was good enough to ref the world cup final is now only good enough to ref junior rugby down under!
For a supposed showpiece game not a lot of thought is put into these things

| it is amusing to see the fans of the also rans in SL coming on to try and wind up fans of the champions. The reality is you would have all loved to have been SL champions and earned the right to be in tonights match. Your own clubs couldn't compete with Leeds so you will cling to someone elses coat tails... Pitiful really.

| Manly should have won by more in the end, they were tonnes better than Leeds. Scoreline flattered Leeds however Manly looked very good.
