On today's performance , and how they played last week I would suggest that Wire are again work in progress.

There's nothing for them IMO this season except a struggle to get into the top half of the table.

Doubtful if they are bad enough be below 8th because Smith is too good a coach to allow it, but some players will have to perform at a higher rate for it to happen and cut out the rubbish.

We were lethargic in the 1st half. If we'd played with the first 20 mins intensity of the second then the result may have been different. On the big games and at the end of season, I wouldn't write us off at all. Considering we're only 3 games in, I've seen enough of the opening fixtures to reckon we'll be well in contention at the end of the season.

Wire's problem is in backs/halves. You look at the likes of Leeds, Wigan and Saints and you can name who'll be 1-7 when all fit. Wire I'm not sure and this has been going on a while. Who is best choice at FB? Who is best choice for wing? Who is best choice for the halves? I'm not sure even Tony Smith knows.

At FB we have S Ratchford and Russell who have been really good but finding the right combos
in the 3/4 and halfbacks especially is the enigma.
On the Wire board the combo of Bridge and Penny been mentioned as one which would work well as Bridge is a wingers centre where his vision out wide utilises the winger the best at Wire and he may be the best to utilize Pennys's pace.

Therefore we have Atkins and J Monaghan on the other wing.

The halfback combo as mentioned still hasn't bedded in yet. All the other top sides seem to be settled on this. As much as it pains me to say, I think Saints will take some stopping when Walsh returns.

Penny and wheeler have had extended game time Sith bridge not being fit(which was majorly apparent today) and having lost ratchford early against hull, I know Russell played today but they've been going softly softly on him as he's still having issues with his teeth following that high tackle that wasn't a high tackle against Widnes last year.

Now, why the hell we played him on the wing today, I have no idea as he's an out n out fullback, with Evans out now it should have been penny or ormsby on the wing.

Wheeler was brought in for cover, but now Myler is out for a few weeks after a hernia op.

I was being sarcastic. They are fanatically partisan, even worse than BBC Humberside.

But I find their emotional partisanship funny because it is so overt.
