| Quote: Binosh "Super League feels like it has lost its appeal at the moment anyway, gone are the days that me and all my mates where excited when Friday came round so we could all go the pub and watch the match (whoever was playing).
The Championship chases Super League like Super League chases the NRL, the only difference is The Championship has closed the gap whereas the Super League is further away than it ever has been.
Over recent years the Championship has grown IMO, with the TV coverage, sponsors, attendances, competitive teams, stadium developments, club structures & finances, to the point where there is very little between the bottom 4 of Super League and the top 4 in the Championship. im sure somebody will pick holes in this though.
SL needs to be cut, as its just not "Super" enough anymore!'"
While Super league is anything but ' Super ' right now there are no Championship clubs anywhere near the level required to step up

| So the main thrust is: leave SL as it is. Can someone tell those running the SL clubs? After all, it's them who are bringing P&R back. What do they know? They're only running the show....... with their money.

Lack of P and R is only part of the reason I stopped attending RL matches, just got bored with it, I stopped enjoying it, but that doesnt mean I am no longer interested in the sport, I am however, less blinded by club loyalty than some others

??
There are several who would make a good a go at it as some 30-50% of the current incumbents.
Fact is (as you've pointed out many times) SL is far from being 'super'.

To make the jump you need to be at least at the level that Widnes were in 2011 , they had just under 4,000 averages and had then attracted Steve O,Connor as a benefactor
There are no current Championship clubs at that level ,which would equate to the clubs you are reffering to ( apart from London of course ) in SL
Quite often Championship Clubs will base their potential SL income on overinflated numbers of away support, that isnt a viable business plan

Widnes are improving, but their attendances are poorer than I expected.
Hopefully, they will get to averaging 8k a season and make a real impact in SL this season.

My point exactly, it is nigh on impossible to build a fan base bouncing around the bottom of SL for a few years ,to be trapped into a licence needs long term substantial financial support, with relegation you do have a ' safety valve ' to prevent too much damage

Aye that safety valve of cutting income massively, destroying your squad, and cutting your attendance. That should prevent too much damage. Mainly because it pretty much destroys everything so there is that much left to damage.

There are examples of it causing damage, and of it not, that like lots of things is down to individual clubs, pin everything on constant success and you are setting yourself up to struggle at some point

They would need to split from the RFL. Which they could do.
Realistically they don’t need to though, the big clubs are in a win/win situation. Bare minimum they get a few years of more big games for the next few years. If it works brilliant, if it doesn’t, Wood, RImmer and Co will be out on their s, the SL clubs can seize control of the RFL, and the smaller clubs will have fallen so far behind that when SL is cut to a ringfenced 10 no-one will complain. There is no downside, why do you think the message from everyone seems to be we don’t want this but it is happening?

| Bulls 30 Hull FC 18 (24-0 HT)
30 - 0 until about 10 minutes to go and the Bulls threw in a number of younger lads which allowed Hull to get 3 quick consolation tries
