That's the exact comment radio 5 live (Liverpool supporting) Alan Green has been saying about (ex Man U) Cristiano Ronaldo for the last dozen years. No bias involved in that judgement at all

| Ryan Hall is the most prolific winger for England and Eden has the best try scoring ratio at club level. Who’s laughing.

Nah he’s a Wakey fan so will be upset that Johnstone isn’t playing. Some of the responses on the their board and other social media when they found out he wasn’t selected this week were cringeworthy. Ranging from now refusing to go to or watch the game, to hoping for a NZ win and wishing that Makinson has a shocker.

Stop making a mountain out of a molehill. Approx 3 from 22 comments (on the Wakey forum) take the above quoted views, most are content that Tom will one day get his chance.

And this is the problem with RL. It’s “fans” are too often ridiculously parochial and small minded. Fans of one club not supporting the national team because one of their players wasn’t selected is just pathetic yet it happens (and this isn’t aimed just at Wakefield fans).
At internationals I’ve seen English fans applauding players from their team when they’ve scored a try...for the opposition.
Do you think there would be any Chelsea fans applauding Eden Hazard had he scored for Belgium against England? Certainly not during the game.
We have to move the sport away from this small minded attitude that pervades the game at all levels.

| Did anyone else just see the women’s game and an England player running over the dead ball line and put the ball down?!

| That crowd is a disgrace. The RFL needs a complete overhaul.
Anyway c'mon England.

I didnt have a choice today. Otherwise there wouldnt have been anything for me to clap about. Maybe the pitch announcer, hes from Leeds.
Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, tongue firmly in cheek.

Why shouldn't they? Perhaps you're making assumptions and they are simply applauding good play. You even state, they are England fans - so that's most likely their first loyalty - but ok let's play along and assume they are also fans of the the club the opposition scorer plays for - why shouldn't they applaud? Who are you to tell them they shouldn't?
I recall a time when good play by the opposition was often applauded. I applauded the opposition many many times at Central Park, certainly internationals but also club games. Not with any enthusiasm, more a grudging "fair do's, that was blo0dy good". I detest that green & gold jersey as much as any die-hard GB/England fan, but I've sucked it up and clapped when they've simply been on another level.

Probably more than you would think. For a start, not all Chelsea fans are English. Especially not in modern London.
