| I wouldn’t even have McShane in the Leeds 17 man squad, with 2 hookers, and we’re terrible.

| Quote: AS108 "A props job is to make metres, clearly he hasn’t done very well at that.'"
[iSome[/i prop’s jobs are to make metres,
Others are to keep the ball moving with having an offload game, others are to get a quick PTB where they’ll drop and hit the deck on contact and get their team going quickly, others are jut tackling machines, others are to act as a front pivot with a passing game... all with metres made as a secondary aspect to their game.
Metres made is a dubious stat sometimes as well. Someone can be given clear space from a good hooker four times every game and have clean ground to run into all the time and look like they make a tonne of metres over the season. Others can take three men in the hit-up every time and drive them metres back but in that whole slow process it allows the oppositions defensive line to get back the ten and well organised. Others can just put their head down and drive forward with no appreciation for where the defensive line are under-numbered anywhere and where space is on the field, missing out on better opportunities than head down and run-in rugby.
You can have a prop who can make metres but who also has an offload game, has a step, can pass the ball and have a quick PTB. Statistically they might not be near the top in any lists but overall is better than a one trick pony with a leg drive.
That’s why our big men always do well in the NRL because Aussie props have historically and are still very one dimensional (the Aussie game in general is very much a one-out, one hit-up style... quite boring!) and our lads have numerous aspects to their game that make them stand out.

| It would the easiest thing to go for players from my own club so I'd vote for Bateman.
Tremendous everytime I see him and will be a huge loss for the pies next season.

| Anyone who thinks Casty hasnt had a good season dont know rugby league.
For me he is in the same bracket as Bateman (maybe not to the same extent), very influential even if the stats done prove it.

I've told myself for years that Bateman just isn't big enough & will get found out eventually. But he hasn't & I was wrong; an absolutely brilliant player. A loss to our game but I can't wait to see how he copes against the Aussies in his best position week in, week out.

He is my man of steel. people who think the man of steel should be just the best player or who has played the best with the best stats, are missing the whole point of the award. They should bring back the league player of the year, like they used to and the MOS should be separate. Some players in the past one both and fair enough, but some previous MOS winners would not get a look in in the current format.

| Quote: AS108 "Difference is Saints have been the best team for the majority of the year by a distance. I haven’t disregarded the try assists statistics just that they don’t mean everything. For me the MOS should be someone who offers attacking quality as well as being physically powerful. Bateman offers the latter but not the former, his inability to pass does cost try’s. Going off what I’ve just said, Roby fits that better than anyone else.'"
But they haven't have they.

For those who aren't aware, this is another 'Troll', there are enough genuine Trinity fans on here doing a good enough job of embarassing us without the trolls joining in......

They certainly have, I assume you've been on holiday away from any rugby league for a couple of months. Just to give you an update Saints are close to 90% success rate with the best attacking points for, no other team comes close, for that reward they have won the League Leaders Shield and pocketed £100k for the achievement.

| Didn't seem to. Though they too had been streets ahead of the oppo at a similar stage of the season.

| This Man of Steel contest is truly intriguing.
Both Remi Casty and Antoine Gigot have to be in contention.
