NRL expansion? Sometime soon, maybe......:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_9857.jpg |

| He's done ok and I don;t think bad coaching cost us. Some of his team choices left me scratching my head but I don't have the luxury of being in camp so hard to know what's gonbe on. Not having a decent sub for Roby in a game as brutal as yesterdays were very strange decisions but there you go. If there's someone better replace him, if not keep him.

| Emphatically, NO
His stinky attitude on TV especially to Tayna Arnold was disgusting, I thought he did the game a dis-service with his rank amatuer childish outburts & made himself look a complete on national TV.
He clearly hasn't got man-management skills enough for the job, he told lies/untruths/hid the truth about players stepping out of line so we had a situation that dragged on & on which could so easily have being dealt with outright and shows him to be weak & feeble and of no fortitude.
Open policy..good or bad.
Player selection, average to poor. Some players picked themselves and deservedly had their places nailed on but how some got into the squad never mind played is mystifying to say the least.
Then we have the Widdop gate scandal, given how he SM wanted us to play it was a no contest over Chase, pushing the best half in Sl away in Brough, well, that just sums the man up..flawed and in a big way.
Continuing to play Cudjoe who has shown in the last two games he can't cut it, Ablett would have done better.
What I saw today was an excellent side [icapable[/i of winning the comp but had underdone halves (widdop & Sinfield not enough game time together) and not using the sub meant knackered forwards, frankly for England RL the competition was a failure (People are easily blinded because the game was close, we've been average at best throughout). It's a bit like coming 7th in SL, got through to the final rounds but fell at the first stiff hurdle.
As for the plaudits given to him regarding the England set up & infrastrcture, THAT SHOULD BE A BARE MINIMUM FFS!!
I'd give him 5.5/10...Mcbanana OUT

| I think people need to separate the whole training/Knights set-up and structure from the national coach. The former can be organised by a full-time England manager (Phil Clarke had that job at one time). The coach needs to select and to coach.
I wouldn't be worried about club bias. In my experience, coaches want to win, especially if there's a large bonus attached. That'll overcome any club bias. In addition, the best coaches will tend to be coaching the better club sides, so picking a few of his own team isn't going to be a problem.

Spot on. As I said earlier, looking at it from purely results point of view against NZ/OZ, Mcnamra has won once in 7 attempts.
That is simply a woeful record no matter how well we played yesterday.
But I think we have a tough decision, full time, we massively limit our choice of coach. Part time, club biased comes into it.
Like I said on another thread, McDermott wouldn't drop Sinfield until he retires. Wane likes Mcclorum and would choose him when they are far better hookers.
I think the RFL will make the easy option and keep Mcnamara.
I just can't understand why people think he should stay on when the results speak for themselves.
Mcnamara would be a superb general manager, but he has had no success at Bradford or England, why would we persist?

| I personally think McNamara has grown in stature as the tournament has progressed. Its as though he has now finished his apprenticeship and has now put himself in a position to be a stronger coach.
Obviously he still needs to come to terms with media pressure, has the performance of the england team yesterday managed to keep him in his job in the shorter term at least.

You mean results against the two best RL playing nations on the planet, stacked with players playing out of the best RL league on the planet by a country mile.
McNamara is quite within his rights to say if the clubs in SLE would give me enough tools to work with we would have won yesterday.
Instead, he has to juggle NRL players & sle players and somehow put it all together in games against France and the exiles which are nothing more than glorified Sl games

Yes I do mean against the two best teams in the world, you know considering we are the top 3 teams in the world. Like I said, anyone on here could coach a team which contains Graham, Burgess etc to beat France. Typical English fans attitude!
"awwww well NZ and OZ are two very good teams so it's a bit harsh comparing results against them two teams"
Mcnamara had arguably the best English team for years, he was given ALL the tools and we have been knocked out at a stage I could have got us to. What do you expect, the NRL clubs let their players travel half way round the world half way through the season?
3 years he's had. Won win in 7 in the games that matter.

Not at the moment as we have a good coach, but would not be concerned in the future as he is a good & capable coach.

I have played the game and got as far as a professional trial with Carlisle who considered offering me a contract.
( i accept that this was not at a very high level so would not use it as any sort of factor that gives me any RL credibility ) but i have played)
Anyway you ****wit get back to sticking your head in the sand'"
Thanks for confirming you couldn't even be d to go to the game.
Spouting off about the international game's apparent problems and how to increase it's popularity, during the a record breaking semi final and one of England's best performances in years, whilst sat at home in your underpants..
Petty insults is all you deserve.

| Yesterday was a stunning performance.
The result has put doubt in out minds.
The coaching is still the same.
This was a good result for Mac.
If Nz Aus is close next week well always wonder wheras if England had got to old trafford and got
battered there would be no calls for Mcnamara to stay on.
Id look much more at game one.
How much difference would Graham and Widdop made in that game coupled with the level of performance shown yesterday.
We should have been bang ready for that game. That was the best route to the final.
Instead with 4 years preparation we didnt know our best team and we were underdone.
Plus the disciplinary stuff shouldnt be happening.
Mac can walk out now with his head up and we can move on positively.

| I think he's done a good job.
We've played far better more structured and attacking rugby than we did under smith and noble. The only poor thing has been his media handling.
There are always differences in opinion on team selection, but he has shown that he will change a team if he thinks it is needed.
We played the best as a team yesterday for many many years.
The game was lost yesterday and some very small margins none of which were down to the coach.

| Unfortunately professional sport is a results-based business and in his own words, a final appearance was the minimum. So, that is failure?
