ffs: New club in the league, Salford at new stadium. It's not difficult to see why they chose those two games to open with.
A thread full of posters essentially all saying "why isn't my club on TV first, it's bigger than yours"? Really?
where have I said FC should be on, I have simply said the games selected are not going to be a good advert for the game.

| Quote: Saddened! "Hull v Warrington has top quality players in it. It also has the potential to be a close game. There will be a 14,000+ crowd no doubt, which presents a good image for the sport.
Contrast to 5,000 at the Stobart with one end completely empty and an amateurish game between two no hopers.
Having the trash teams on SKY is just a bad idea, which pollutes public perception of the sport. We should get the big games, the big crowds and the entertaining games on SKY in order to raise the profile of the sport.'"
You don't know your history of Super League that well either do you?
Widnes got a crowd of 5,000 or less on something like 4 occasions in Super League. There will be about 7-8,000 in weather permitting.

Quoted for truth.
I can't see what all the fuss is about - Wire will annihilate Hull for starters, so that's hardly an exciting spectacle for this mythical first time viewer.

Given the level of ignorant bile you've spewed all over this thread, I don't think I'll be entering into any financial transactions with you; thanks all the same.
Meanwhile, I hope you find something productive to do with your weekends once you've cancelled that Sky subscription; perhaps some adult literacy classes or a community day centre?

| The RFL tried the big bang theory last season and while I enjoyed it at Cardiff, not enough other people turned up and so that was the end of that experiment. A shame really because it was a belter of a venue and a great atmosphere. Really felt like we were at the start of something big!
There is no alternative to that really. Any choice of matches for the first weekend is going to feel like a 'damp squib' by comparison to a full round of rugby in a great stadium with a real festival feel.
In the absence of that fantastic event, I can't understand why some people are complaining about the matches Sky have chosen. Widnes should be on the TV for that first weekend as they are the competition new boys and it's a welcome to Superleague for them. Given that Salford will be starting life in a new stadium then it is spot on that they get a headline deal too. Saints get their day in the sun the following weekend (although if it's anything like being at Knowsley Road, it will rain).
Any two teams can produce a great match, especially at the outset of a season when all the teams are just sussing each other out and injuries haven't started to undermine player availability. There is no reason at all why the matches during that first weekend can't be absolute belters. I'm looking forward to watching them both.

| I think they'll be decent games, but even as a Wakey fan I cann see how they don't seem like "must watches" for an opening weekend. But then again, it was Hull KR v Wakey for the first game when they came up.
The Salford game surprises me more. You would have thought they would have wanted a bigger attraction for the first game at a new home, in the same way that Catalan got Wigan and Crusaders got Leeds when they went to Wrexham.

Just let us have a bit of limelight at the start of the season and you can all go back to your mutual, sugar daddy financed backslapping club as the season wears on.
As opposed to your club which relies on gate receipts and merchandise sales alone.

You mean by the team that got edged out in the CC Semi (unfairly imo) and the team who were doing well in the league until we got half our team and a potential England prop injured with about 8 games gone you mean?
I really hope we stay injury free this year, you'll all be in for a shock.

I'm sure we'll serve up a cracker of a game! Well, unless it's pi**** it down like our last game at The Willows which I think we can both agree was hardly a cracker!

what is ignorant about what I said, I think you'll find I have just put forward my opinion
when attempting to insult someone you really should be in a position of strength, not some nobody from a hick village in Yarkshire... prat
