Its only a dated and a little bit racist view to say Hansen is not English, we now live in a globalised world where people travel cheaply across the globe in a single day. Nationality is not based on your genes or where your father is born and has grown up. If youve lived in this country from a young age, consider yourself to be English and are proud of it then you are as English as anyone else on this forum or elsewhere.

So what if he has played for Samoa, many Australian and New Zelanders do the same, are they now Samoan? Is Danny Brough scottish? Is Pat Richards Irish?

I was trying to highlight the prejudice and often plain daftnes when it comes to Wigan. We've received criticism for giving Carmont an extension and signing Cross till end of season. Cross is a stop-gap. If he wasn't we'd have signed him for more than four months. I'd hope his experience will rub off on our young forwards and if he has some stand out games then that will be a bonus.
