I'd say the difference is there are proportionally more people who like RL and wouldn't want to look like they're wearing a Saints shirt (I'm not one of them by the way) than there are in football that would be bothered about looking like they're wearing a Leeds shirt. That wouldn't help sales.

I still think the kits could have been designed better... tied together somehow so that they actually look like they've been designed by one company with this game in mind. Perhaps the England shirt could indeed have been a red cross on white (though the messy/paint flecks style is always going to be horrible on a rugby shirt imo) while the Exiles version could have used the same cross design but but with Exiles colours. For me, such a design would have been a good visual representation of the essence of the Exiles game.
