no he tops up to keep us competitive (not that he's getting good value for money this year!) but gets sponsorship for his company in return.
Compared to the shortfall in Quins annual budget it is pennies.

I do hope that this is not a comment aimed at myself, as if it is I feel its a personal insult. How do you know about my personal situation, as currently, the last time I looked at my wage slip (this week) I was fully employed and have been by the same company for the last 6 years.

Sorry, why do I not have a clue?
I understand why the league needs a team in the south, I live down there and want to go to rugby every week. But living on the south coast it is nearly as quick on the train for me to go from here to watch Wakefield than it is from here to Quins.
All I am suggesting is that it doesnt work in the current place, and I am making constructive suggestions as to where I feel it should be. I do also like the idea of the Bush, as even though it wont help me much with the big Aussi congregation there it has a more positive position.

| After a day of terrific derbies, the RFL ought to wake up and smell the coffee in relation to clubs not getting a point for being near to another club. Yesterday was what the game is all about.
Not a dig at Quins or Crusaders, but yesterday would have been a lot less enjoyable if there hadn't been derbies.

Why is the London club not based in somewhere like Shepherds Bush, where all the aussie ex pats/tourist/backpackers live thus tapping into a potential fanbase who migt just want to follow a club for the time taht they are here?'"
The club originally was based at Fulham FC - spitting distance from Shepherds Bush. Played at Chiswick for a few years, also close to 'antipodean land'.

| Starting to create some realy talented youngsters quins so hopefully this will generate interest in RL from an early age in London.
However when you compare 2,000 with 20,000+ sellouts at Wigan and hull it doesn't look great. Noted that the Quins game wasn't a derby in any sort but it still doesn't look great. Attendances is only one criteria of the franchising and hopefully they can build on this in the coming years like they have done to their academy.

Probably the most understated comment since someone once said Saddam Hussein wasn't that keen on the Kurds.

I think different clubs should be set realistic goals to complete by a set date. The RFL need to tell Quins to increase the crowds, even if it is by 1000-2000. an increase is an increase and they can go from there. The more expanded our game is, the stronger its going to become, however it's only going to become stronger if you can build on a 3000 attendance after 15 years in top flight rugby. quins have failed to do so and something has to be done.
RFL will never kick them out i dont think. Its like an ongoing experiment which is going neither here or there. Like someone said the other week on the VT, 1/2 of the people with sky who watch the rugby league are based in the London area. Sky will never allow the RFL to kick them out for this alone.

Sadly that's the case with many clubs in many sports. It's nothing new but only a few seem to have been able to come up with an alternative over the years.

Time to end this shambles of a club now.
Seriously. What do they bring to SL?'"
As a 60+ year old, Northern male you would expect me to agree but I dont, They bring something the so called heartlands dont! a whacking great cash handout from SKY TV without the expansion clubs outside the M62 they would not pay anywhere near the amount they do & without that all but maybe three teams would go bust. You dont like them, maybe you dont care for our sport either? I support any one who wants to play our great game any place they want to whatever the standard, Turn your question round what do other teams bring to Harlequins? not much judging by the awway support that travels there. We in the north have had 116 years to build our teams & we are still dependant on SKY to stay afloat, you need to take a reality check.

I have never understood this argument that having a struggling club in London that no-one knows or cares about increases SKY subscriptions in the south.
the RL viewers in London yesterday will have tuned in to the Hull and Wigan-Saints derby's because it is a good TV spectacle, I don't think it matters where the clubs are based.
For example: having a Premiership RU team based in Hull drawing 2K crowds woulden't make the slightest bit of difference to whether I watch Bath-Gloucester or not. If I thought watching Bath-Gloucester would be a good afternoons entertainment I'd watch it regardless.
I support expansion and feel that Catalans in particular have brought a lot to SL, but Quins in their current format/location bring nothing what so ever to the party.

where have huddersfield knocked quins crowds? if you're referrring to my previous post i wasn't knocking harlequins i said it's a shame that more people dont go because the fans that do go are very friendly, passionate and enthusiastic about the game i have got no problems with harlequins or their fans, like others i just want to see a succesful team in london attracting better support.
as for the huddersfield and wakefield comment,i fail to see the relevance as huddersfield are averagin over 8,000 and wakefield 6,500 or are you thinking its still 2004

Do you ever drink in the 'Cornerhouse' by the bus stop?
