Thats a joke hey-I thought at one stage we may need a second scoreboard or at least the opportunity to borrow Surrey cricket clubs

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”

He didn't come through St Helens at all. He came through the Widnes academy.

No you weren't....you were replying to a post in which I had responded to a Widnes fan questioning the success of Harlequins and in doing so, underlined the fact that one of your young lads has been capped in the last 3 years.....whilst I pointed to 2 cockneys had beem capped in the same period.
Anyway, I wasn't questioning the success of your youth set up....no point, as when you are in The Campionship, you are of course going to lose your talent to SL clubs. I was just making the point that success is not solely dependant on attendances and that the Way Mr O'connor has bailed you out and got you on the straight and narrow is not too dissimilar to our own Mr Hughes.

I think you might be right. He was born in Widnes and played for Widnes, hence my saying he's a Widnes produced player. There's always going to be some debate on who can 'claim' a particular player. Take Ben Karalius. He is from Widnes, played for West Bank ARL in Widnes, represented England U16s and is now at Saints academy (and a potential star of the sport should certainly be aiming for a SL academy rather than his local championship team). If he goes on to play for England, does he count as "produced" by St. Helens, or Widnes? I'd probably say Saints, but it's never going to be clear-cut.
I think we can all agree that youth development is one area that London does have something to boast about in recent years, with plenty more to come.

Thanks for that
Scooter Nik. Yeah right. Of course she is, probably turned up her toes in disgust at having spawned a prat like you:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_44411.png |

Yes indeed it was a rather pathetic attempt at a first 75mins and a very poor turnout from the whole 30ish crusaders fans i spotted in colours.
However that does not excuse putting SL XV on the ticket i was so shocked i nearly spat out my blood capsule.

| Quote: MrPhilb "Reading the Rugby League papers this morning I see they have posted another huge loss, in the region of 2 million pound for the second year running.
Now they owe Ian Lenegan around 2 million pound and David Hughes a further 4 million pound as they have underwritten the losses but how long is Mr Hughes going to keep that up as I assume Ian Lenegan isn't funding them anymore due to his position with Wigan?'"

| Quote: Redchemic "Maybe he means that clubs like Widnes who have kept the game alive for well over 100 years and when people come up with ideas such as Superleague - unfortunately at a time when Widnes were in a lull after unprecedented success -they were simply cast aside in the name of expansion. And teams who he mentioned have either come and gone, been propped up by the authorities or broke the rules to stay in Superleague.
The financial failure in 2008 can be blamed partially at least on Widnes throwing all their eggs in one basket to get to the riches of the promised land.
Clubs like Widnes, Leigh, Fev, Keighley and any other flatcap clubs will be here long after the expansion experiment is completed.'"
Widnes were indeed shafted at the start of Superleague. But they did get a go at it a few years later and failed to avoid relegation after 4 seasons.
I know that plenty of people think that the expansion policies have ruined the game. Others don't and this argument has been repeated so many times on here that it's not worth restarting it.
Widnes 'till i die stated it as a fact (albeit it, qualifying it with "almost"icon_wink.gif which it isn't, it's an opinion.

Keep in mind he is a fake, designed to wind people up and turn them against us, he should not be taken seriously.
