The ref should have told Griffin to calm down and carried on with the game.
How many times do you see something similar plus, very obvious sledging (when an opposition player makes a mistake.
Are we now saying that if a melee ensues, the "error" will actually get the defending side a penalty ?'"
It probably shouldn't have an impact, but I feel as though it does which I agree is wrong, but the fact still remains that what he did is a penalty.
There is no penalty IMO if Scott Taylor or Ligi Sao tap him on the head and everyone walks away but technically there should be.

| Quote: Saddened! "Kendall's last two games have been terrible, there is no getting away from that. He was put in a ridiculous position being given the game so soon after making two absolute howlers in the Catalans v Leeds game. Not seeing the headshot as a penalty is inexcusable, McIllorum has punched him square in the face and he's not seen it. There's blood pumping from his nose and mouth and still he doesn't compute that maybe the tackle caused it. But they give him the game anyway, which is a common RFL trait unfortunately. It just puts him under an unacceptable level of pressure. It was a similar situation to Hicks being given the Challenge Cup final last year. ITV aired the piece about his death threats from Warrington fans, so they give him the final to support him. Again put under incredible pressure he cracked. Similarly last night Kendall spent the first half panicking and making rash and often incorrect decisions. There were some absolutely farcical passes last night, one in the build up to the drop goal at the end of the first half was right in front of him and couldn't have been more blatant.
There are quite a list of minor decisions he got wrong last night and the head patting incident is the big topic of debate today. I'm fine with that being a penalty, but where is the consistency? Singleton against Saints was in one of those overly fired up moods and was goading Saints and slapping backs and heads whenever we made an error. Never considered a penalty then, but is because Wigan all steam in for a fight. He's penalising Hull not for the head pat which they'd get away with, but for Wigan's retaliation. Had they not reacted, there's no penalty. It's wrong and all caused by referees not being consistent.
Who gets the final will have a big say on who wins it this year. Kendall suits Wigan to a tee. He doesn't police the 10 at all and high shots need to be full on Ultimate Warrior efforts to be given. If Catalans make the final it's just a thug-fest and a brawl. If Saints get there they need a referee who will keep the 10 a 10 as per the rules and not a 5 as it was allowed to be last night. I got plenty of bitter shouts on Twitter for saying that, but it's not bitterness. I'm fine with Wigan winning it if they're the best team, but their defensive success recently isn't based on anything more than moving way before the ball is played, and Kendall ignores that. And it seems he's given all of Wigan's games recently.'"
It's to be hoped that he (the ref) doesn't watch LMS too closely then ?
You do seem to be trying to get your excuses in early though

I still haven't got over the blatant disallowed last minute try we had v St helens a few ago when every one on the sky panel said it was wrong and we should of won

I stand corrected; it was you I had to endure for all those years at the Boulevard. He spoke in lowercase as well...

| Seen a few people saying it was Wigan's reaction to the head pat that got the penalty. If you watch it again you can see Kendall blow for the penalty as soon as Griffin does it.

| The greatest head slap since Benny Hill.
Infact, Benny Hill is my new nickname for Griffin.

Hahaha Haha Haha Haha!
I reckon this fellow deffo owns the White Saints van!!!
Just tell me at what point singleton patted any saints player on the head???
As for keeping 10, strange how the saints have great "Line speed" but if other teams, especially Wigan, do the same, then its the ref who's not keeping 10!!!
Whey hey
The Bitterness is strong in this one young Jedi
Long may it continue!

| Anyhow, well done Wigan & good luck in the final.
I only had one eye on the game due to the wife watching that castle thing, but boy, they're a really well drilled outfit.

They always say that its defence that wins matches and they (Wigan) kept their try line in tact.
Hull didn't look like they had quite recovered from last week.
Let's hope that Catalan can put on a better show tonight and lets at least have a close game.

Yet in my post I don't blame the referee for the result, Wigan were completely dominant and relentless with their defensive pressure on us. However, the bits I did mention were ones that should have been picked up at the time. The French knock on from the kick through was particularly bad, in my opinion (especially as it ended up with Griffin who could have ran in to score - and what Kendall said had happened, didn't actually happen)
Also, no. it wont be me that sits in front of you at the KC. I am very reserved at the stadium until I can watch incidents back

Completely lost control off the game Useless.
Possibly the worst referee if the SL era and get probably get the GF.'"
Ben Currie was sin binned for this in 2016 against Salford. It was a penalty, and a stupid reaction from Griffin.

| From a neutral Wakefield fan...
Wigan deserved the win no doubt.
Kendall is consistently shocking and was well down to his normal standard. How the authorities thought it was a good idea to give him another top game after his appalling showing last week is completely beyond me.
If they give him the GF I won't be watching.

| Quote: The Yellow Giraffe "Prior to the last few weeks I’d have agreed he’s our best ref but he’s had some real high profile howlers.
I take on board your comments re the video ref; Hicks could and should’ve stepped in last week. But I also expect Kendall not to miss them, in particular the McIlorum.
Going back to tonight he’s missed a forward pass for the Smith try, he wrongly penalised Connor when French had already dropped the ball and the 1 on 1 steak from Griffin was wrongly penalised too. He’s not the reason Hull lost by the way, Wigan were the better side, but he’s making too many mistakes currently.
Unfortunately he’s had 2 playoff games and after both, a lot of the talk is about him. Now I know you’re gonna get that from opposition (or neutral
All the Sky commentary team missed it until the replays, while I was sat at home thinking where's the card straight after the tackle. Yes, Kendall and his touch judges should have seen it, but may have been unsighted. I'll have to give them a wafer thin benefit of the doubt, as the pundits missed it too. There's no question that Hicks ought to have been in Kendall's ear advising a straight red.

| Catalans have had someone sin binned and a shot clock penalty, not seen many of them.
Do the Refs want saints to win?
