Is that what we really aspire to? We may as well give up if our only hope is that eventually the strongest clubs are weakened to the point that they no longer win. I look forward to the day when I am the winning Super League captain with my one legged mate John as the man of steel, because that is all there will be left.

Really?
The top 6 will target the bottom 6 as winnable games with their own "mini-league" more about "not losing" rather than winning.
Boring "safe" RL will reign at the top with some blow-outs against "lesser" opposition.......and staying up will be of more financial value than winning the competition outright.
Something is very wrong with that....very wrong.

I'd say we are considered part of the top 4 as Bradford have fallen, they still have more silverware than us in the SL era, but we are up there now. '"
Who are the 'top 4' then and on what basis are Wire part of this elite?

Getting to finals & winning trophies would be a couple of fairly decent measures? The last 5 years would showAppearances at finals since 2010 (GF & CC)
Leeds 6
Wigan 5
Warrington 4
Saints 3
Cas 1
Hull 1
Trophies since 2010 (inc WCC)
Leeds 4
Wigan 4
Warrington 2
Saints 1
Average SL attendances for 2014?
15,068 Leeds
14,102 Wigan
12,051 Saints
11,065 Hull
9,870 Warrington
~ The rest all sub 8k.
SL playoff game wins since 2010 (inc GF)?
Leeds 10
Wigan 10
Saints 9
Warrington 7
Catalans 3
Huddersfield 3
Hull 2
Hull KR 1

| To be honest, I wouldn't bother arguing with, or wasting time providing facts for Brucie, as its apparent he's only got into RL in the last year.
He must be looking for something to fill his time since the BBC sacked him from Strictly....

| Yet again, why do these Wire muppets think we should only take into account 2009 onwards????
Not a 'big club'.

...... You really need to give it up, big chin.
Big club, small club, does it really matter, I don't think any Wire fan on this thread as said we are a 'big' club.
What we are right in saying, and the facts that have been presented to you prove, is that we are a serious trophy-challenging side. Whether you believe we are a 'big' club or not has sod all to do with that.
Now considering the title of this thread (which was started by you, I believe?), whether our crowds are 1,000 or 10,000, or whether we have only started getting our act together in the last 6 seasons really has nothing to do with it... As other have said, not just Wire fans, we have every right to be considered a favourite to be the next 'new' name on the SL trophy.

These 'Wire Muppets' are responding to your original post in which you [i appear [/ito be looking for comments as to a NEW name as SL champs. A NEW name would seem to indicate current/recent form, teams showing [ichampionesque [/iquality, winning lots of games and so on. Warrington won plenty of trophies before 2009 ( including the one which has now become the source of taunting among berks like you, in 1955 ) , but there would not be much point bringing in a club's entire history otherwise I could suggest that Batley will be the next new name on the grounds that they were champs in the 1920s.
You started what looked like an honest debate but it turns out you were just seeking to stir things up. Time-waster!

I'm not arguing Wire have a good side and may win a SL title one day, it's this that Warrington fans come out with that they are now an elite club and now part of a 'Big 4'.
I believe there is only three elite clubs in England, a true 'Big 3' and Wire isn't one of them.

People used to say Leeds were part of a Big Four in the early days of SL. From 1996-2003 what exactly did they achieve? One SL GF loss and one Challenge Cup win.
Warrington have achieved far more in the space of eight years than that Leeds side had.

Both clubs an average of 5th place in the time frames.
Both not won the GF.
Wire have won more Cups but to say they achieved "far more" is stretching it a tad. Especially given that at least part of that 8 years was groundwork for 10 years of success at Leeds afterwards.

Wire have won 3x as many cups and been in twice as many GFs, as well as finish as League Leaders.
That was in the space of 6 years. I'd say that's a pretty good six years.

If we're including beaten GF appearances then we should note the 2 Cup Finals Leeds appeared in and lost too.
I'm not denying its been a good 6 years for Wire. But then it was a good 6 years for Leeds prior to 2004 too.
