Same applies to a "legitimate tackle technique" where contact is made to the head. See the Warrington Widnes game tonight. Is that tackle technique now to be banned in case contact is made with the head. In which case what game do we have left?

Shoulder chargers aren't legitimate.

They were seen as a high risk play, they got banned.

Apparently the NFL still has them if anyone's interested?

A shoulder charge does not give you concussion ffs.

A shoulder charge to the head can which is why they have always been illegal. The banning of shoulder charges has been an over reaction of the NRL that is trying to make its game more appealing to the mums of wimpy kids. Same as the BS sin inning for throwing a punch fiasco they have created.

If they were dangerous par se do you not think, given the legal challenges they are facing for ABI, that the NFL would have banned them?

An over reaction?

They've taken legal and medical advice from professionals in their fields, not some wit fans.

The Americans haven't banned assault rifles even though nearly 1.1 million people have been killed by guns in America since Lennon was murdered. You expect them to give a about a shoulder charge?

Your average American will happily sue the bejesus out of anyone that can be blamed for them stubbing their own toe or grazing their knee, so yes, I think they do think very carefully about these things. Obviously it can't represent that much more of a risk (if at all) over any other type of tackle.

These would be the same team Dr's that are happy to see concussed players remaining on the field and (allegedly) overseen programmes injecting calfs blood, warfarin and god knows what else into players? Yep a credible lot they are!

If it wasn't their fault, yes you can sue. The Americans also ignore and fight findings to suit their agenda, have a look at cigarette company's.

Tbh I'm bored of arguing, thankfully specialists in the field have put forward findings into the effects of head trauma and the NRL and RFL have followed it.

I'll go with their findings, not people who are uneducated on the subject.

Give me a reference, tell you what save your time, there has not been one single piece of research published showing a legitimate shoulder charge causes abi. Nor is there a single piece of research showing a shoulder charge is any worse than a good rip snorting front on tackle in regards to head trauma. In fact the majority of concussions caused in RL are actually the tackler going low and getting his head in the wrong place. Going by your logic they should stop low tackles as these are the ones most likely to cause head trauma.

I went early to watch the 19's derby and to be honest the biff at the end was excellent. A Hull fan next to me said 'wow this is getting tasty'. No-one got killed but I must admit I was pleased the Hull team went around the East stand at the end and not through the crowd to their changing rooms. That could have been very tasty!

That's a turn up at a Hull derby icon_wink.gif
