| Quote: Dave K. "George burgess was outstanding again yesterday and should be one of the first names in the 17.
Form prop in the NRL at the moment.
Sam had a great game from LF so should play there.
Think 3 props are nailed on for England in hill, graham and burgess with the 4th place up for grabs.
I'd play rachford in the centres.'"
I'd play Sam at prop and O'Loughlin at 13.

| A pack of
Graham
Roby
S burgess
Ellis
Westwood
O loughlin
G Burgess
Hill
With hooker and back row up for grabs still looks as good as any aussie pack.
Our backs look strong, still look weak in the halfs.

| Agreed mate, and unlike other years if we get an injury we have some strength in depth to replace them.

| Australia could well have the 3rd best pack at this rate, even after taking Tamou/Papalii from NZ via origin.
Aus:
Scott, Tamou, Fifita, Myles, Thaiday, Gallen, Bird, Lewis, Parker, Papalii etc
NZ:
JWH, SBW, Matulino, Bromwich, McKendry, Pritchard, Eastwood, Smith, Glenn, Kasiano etc
Eng:
S.Burgess, Graham, G.Burgess, Hill, Mossop, Crabtree, Westwood, Ellis, O'Loughlin, Hock etc
Think NZ have the edge overall still.

| Luke was very good at the back end of this year, but hasn't played a game this season. George is an absolute must, Tom has to do a bit more to earn selection but even after only 3 games is starting to look the part. The thought of George running off Graham's short passing is great - he can be stopped by low tackles and being hit in numbers, but if the defence even half gets it wrong he'll make a half break.
Said it before but for England I'd play Sam second row - he'd be great at prop but our backs need all the help they can get in defence out wide.
TBH if Luke gets any games I'd pick all four Burgii. If nothing else would be good promo material for the WC.

| Would definately use sam in the back row, probably at loose as would want westwood and ellis in the side for sure.
We have enough power in the front row with hill, mossop, graham and g burgess to be able to put sam's wide running ability to maximum effect and like brisbanerhino said his wide defending would be a big help.

| Looking at players available, Samoa and Tonga have packs that can compete with the 'big 3'.

| I must be missing something with Zak Hardaker. He has got potential to be very good but as a utility back / half i would have Lomax or Ratchford ahead of him.
Both can play at full back and both can cover the halves. Ratchford can also cover centre and wing. To me they are both better defensively and potentially more versatile

| Lineham in the side instead of Pencil D!ck Charnley?
I wouldn't personally, still a year too early for him - but his defence, attack and his ability under the high ball is very good

The Aussies have plenty of depth in the forwards, add to that list of possibles: Ryan Hoffman, Chris McQueen, Tony Williams, Glenn Stewart, David Taylor etc. Even big Willie Mason is still doing the business for Newcastle!

Besides, even if they haven't got the quickest car, they've still got the best drivers.

DG - Hardaker's not a half, he's an out-and-out fullback, and for me he's the best all round fullback in the league (see his display v Wigan in last year's CC semi). While he doesn't have Tomkins attacking ability or versatility of Ratchford/Lomax, he's a much better full back than either of them.

Oh they absolutely destroy us for depth, even with those odd choices.
We know Hoffman, he was at the top end in SL, not the best though - we have much better. McQueen is overrated, he's just benefiting from the MaGuire effect (basically the same way average players have looked like worldbeaters for Melbourne over the past few years). Williams is effectively a leaner, quicker Karl Pryce - massive potential, had one good year, doesn't seem to have the heart. Glenn Stewart imo is overrated, but he's easily the best on that list there. Taylor has had poor form for a couple of years (injuries not helping), so I'd be wary of judging him right now. Mason isn't a worry.
But, to be fair, our depth is even worse. Take out Burgess and Graham and we're stuffed up front imo.
