| Quote: Budgiezilla "This is from a Leigh fan who is good mates with assistant coach Paul Anderson....who told him the following info following Leigh's game @ Toronto in June.
1. The squad stayed in basic student accomodation quite a way of the the city and had no immediate training facilities. Unlike Toronto who were staying directly in the city.
2. There was a 3G pitch next to their accommodation that they could not use & had to get a coach for 40 minutes to a separate training facility that was resembled the rucks up Plank Lane, Leigh
3. In Toulouse & Catalan they were provided with 3 meals. I saw a picture of the sh** breakfast (one meal!) that their accommodation provided.
4. Following the match they were provided with flights back to the UK. Well, Glasgow to be precise & then a coach to Leigh.'"
Most people from Leyth are bitter and ingrates. Perhaps Leigh Centurions should have been invoiced for the flights and accommodation instead of allowing their staff to whinge, whinge whinge...geez! A chance of a lifetime for some folk to visit N.America and all they do in WHINGE!!

Toronto is nothing particularly special and I have lived there for the last 16 years. It’s just different to the UK but so is Afghanistan!

| I was watching a live feed video yesterday a dear and kind TWP fan bothered to stream to the general public of their game at the beautifully ornate The Shay stadium, and the user panned around to show a pretty full main stand and 3/4 full stand behind the goaline suggesting a crowd of maybe 3000+.
My point? Though many fickle short sighted 'supporters' whine on about TWP having no away fans, what actually happens is that the Toronto name creates curiosity, thus locals who aren't regulars will often turn up to watch their team against Toronto, so in essence Toronto are actually helping many clubs lift their home attendances!

I'm curious why you have the Canada flag yet you bag the largest city in Canada? Sure you could change it to the Afghanistan flag? South African flag? Gaza flag?
Toronto certainly puts grim cities like Manchester, Leeds and definately Bratfud in the shade.

It does indeed, but not a patch on the truly great cities you would spend a lot of money to experience. Even in Canada I would put Vancouver, Montreal, Quebec City and even Halifax ahead in terms of better places for tourists...
Toronto and Canada generally is a great place to live, mind.

I believe the announced attendance was under 2000.

A win is a win and they have their first 2 points in The Qualifiers but, this victory was against Halifax, ranked 8th for 8.
Dont put out the ticker tape just yet.
They have to beat all 3 Championship sides and possibly 2 SL sides to gain promotion but, I'm sure that you know that.
Typical dreamer, clinging to each morsel of good news as though it's the last life belt from the Titanic.

| Quote: bramleyrhino "I'll tell you what they have brought. They've brought more energy, enthusiasm and excitement to this sport's supporter experience since the days of Bullmania. They've brought a higher media profile than to the sport than any non-SL club since the switch to summer, and more than most SL clubs in their respective SL existence.
They've also, in the space of two years, started generating crowds of 7-8k from nothing (anyone who wants to respond to that with "those are inflated numbers" needs to prove it). At a time when crowds across the heartlands are going south, Toronto has introduced this game to a brand new audience.
I realise for some that whatever Toronto do will never be enough to satisfy them, but in the space of two years they've achieved more than what many heartland clubs have achieved in their entire SL existence. Growing a new audience from scratch, creating an event, and buliding a media profile. Instead of asking "what are Toronto doing?", we should be asking why every heartland club isn't doing this.'"
There is no denying that from absolutely nothing and in a country not familiar with the sport, they have done exceptionally well, no doubt whatsoever.
However, along with all the good news, they have felt it necessary to significantly inflate the actual level of interest in their games. Now, this may well be deliberate, in order to generate further interest. However, it could also be for slightly more sinister reasons, maybe to show that they are ready for SL of to stop investors getting cold feet ?
Remember, everything has been going well and any business can cope with success, they are yet to suffer any kind of setback either on the field or off it and this is usually when questions are asked.
They may well gain promotion and good luck to them if they do, I will enjoy the trip over there.
However, just as Noble has complained about cost and logistics, I still dont see how this venture is practical, either in the short, medium or long term.

The flatcappers won’t like this comment, they think Toronto should be made to alternate between home and away every week with as many 4 day turnarounds as possible.

What it should be is well planned, thought through and agreed by the governing body, in advance.
The current spat between Noble (TWP) and The RFL should never have been possible.
All parties knew that TWP would be challenging at the top of the Championship and therefore, likey be involved in the play offs, it really shouldn't be that difficult to have the format laid out in advance, should it ? a poor effort on both sides.

| Distance makes you feel tired but it is crossing timezones that foo bars your body clock. Sydney to NZ is 2 hours (equivalent to London to Athens), Toronto to London is 5 hours. Big difference. (P.S. I’ve done a fair bit of long haul and, e.g. the 7 hour five sector trip to Chicago had a worse effect than the 11 hour one sector trip to Johannesburg)

Well, we're certainly missing Bradford in terms of attendances. This may not exactly mean that we 'need' them, but finances would be boosted if they were in SL with a competitive side.

This cant be true as away fans are no longer deemed important, hence the clamour to include TWP in SL

Actually London to Athens is almost twice the time that you quote.
