| I think Salford have the potential to be a Man City of rugby league. Is that good or bad news for the game? Will there be anymore foriegn investors or benefactors? Is there a potential for a smaller version Premier League? If Salford did improve the attendances would improve, cant say the same thing about London.

An ambitious estimate of £60k over the season (for clubs who aren’t smart enough to market these games better) per club isn’t something we really need as a deciding factor in the structure of our game.'"
A good Finance Manager projecting turnover and allocating budgets for the year would beg to differ.
And £60k is a player's wage. Hardly insignificant.
As I said, it's not the whole argument, but it's a factor.

| £60k out of £4m isnt a big enough number for it to be a realistic factor in our decision making, it is a relatively insignificant number.
Also that 60k is likely to be 2 missed games at the higher end of the scale. I would be surprised if Wigan would even notice the difference between the away fan income of Les Catalans or London compared to a visit from Wakefield, Hudds et al.

Go and ask any SL club if they'd miss £60k out of their annual income. Let me know what they say.

| Not one strong argument to keep them in other than London are worse- 100+ years and less than 2K for a super league match(it’s not the first time they have had such a poor crowd in the past few years)
It’s interesting in some eyes how London’s multi-millionaire owner is worse than Salford’s!!!! Can London do nothing right!!
They have no future even with the cheap publicity stunt of Wigan “name your price for Rat face”. What boll0x will he come up with next. Take you tacky polo necked sweater back to Aintree you fraud
They will not get 5K average this year or within the next 10 years. They have a ground in the middle of nowhere built next to a treatment plant which stinks and solid fan base to pull on.

| I personally have no issue with London, and if the 14 league format could stay competitive with this amount of teams, then good luck to the Broncos. But to be realistic its not working, so the sides who are struggling in this format need to go. If Salford/Cas/London/Wakey dont improve then they know the consequences.

The way SL has worked over the last few years, can any club really operate with a clear understanding of the consequences? It feels a lot more like its made up as we go along.
Salford ought be absolutely fine - *now* that is - without the new owner, even if they'd staved-off liquidation, it ought to have been last-chance saloon for SL membership). However, with their backing and in particular with the owner (at least for now) apparently actively engaged in fixing things, it looks hopeful. My great hope is that it goes even further, and as part of turning Salford into a great club, he successfully lobbies for salary control reforms (note "reforms", not abolishment) in order that he can actually spend as much of his money as he desires. The ambitious turnaround seems genuine enough - there's always the risk that a lot of this is hot-air, but let's see what the next 12 months hold.
London? Who knows what the blazes is going on there? I still think we need them in though.
The other two are a bit concerning, but even so, I'm not particularly bothered what grounds look like as long as fans are turning up.

At no point you talked about quality on the pitch, which should be the most important factor. The more competitive the game, the more marketable the game equalling the increase in crowds. Do you think in the next three years, any of the sides stated, will be in the top 6? London - No, Wakey - Potential but No, Castleford - No, Salford - Potential with new investment.

I don't know which Salford fans you were talking to, then, as most of us knew it was more than just the Willows holding us back. Indeed, most of us had a good idea that moving from the Willows was a bad idea. But hey, apparently we'd been given an ultimatum to improve the ground or move and the previous regime were adamant that nothing could be done at the Willows. Which was b*llocks, but never mind.
And finally, wire-quin: you're either a WUM or a c**t. Or both, as the case may well be.

What the hell are you talking about?? What does "potential but no" mean?
Unlike you I don't possess crystal balls but what are you basing this in depth analysis on exactly? Do you think HKR and Widnes will be in the top 6 (or do they have "potential"icon_wink.gif? Why don't we just get rid of Wakefield, Cas, Salford, London and Widnes and HKR and let the rest have a great time playing each other ad nauseam?
Salford are in a tough place at the moment but good luck to them. We should be looking to support and strengthen the heartlands clubs not be talking about kicking them out.

I agree with you TBH. I don't think London can realistically go on like this for much longer, but given the strategic importance ( not everyone agrees I know ) its the one club I'd would like to see 'central' help for...but only with a better team at the RFL in the first place, which isn't going to happen any time soon, so in other words, I have no idea what to do about it. As they [icurrently[/i stand, I think it's just about over the line where we'd be better without London...BUT that assumes nothing is done to sort their problems out...I'd still rather see something done to help them. Maybe a final ultimatum will sharpen minds. I don't know.

As this is a forum, I am entitled to an opinion. My depth analysis is the last 3-5 years where these clubs have not made much progress on the playing side. The idea is not to get rid of teams, but to make the competition more competitive of which 14 teams is not clearly working. Would you put a large wager on one of these four teams getting in the top 6 in the next 3 years? (Feel free to use my crystal ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Never fail to get a dig in do you, Wakefields travelling support is as as good as most, especially this side of the hill.
True Wigan probably wouldn't miss it but you would as we take 2-3000 to Leeds every time and that is roughly 40-60k and even Leeds can't afford to lose that. I don't think there is another poster on here who knows so little but thinks he knows so much about how the game works. Stop being such a ar*e.
